Below is the complete fifteenth Adhyai of the Sri Nanak Parkash by Kavi Santokh Singh Ji

ਦੋਹਰਾ ।
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅੰਗਦ ਅਰਬਿੰਦ ਪਦ, ਆਨਂਦ ਕੰਦ ਮੁਕੰਦ ।
ਧਰਪਰ ਧਰਿ ਸਿਰ ਨਮਹਿ ਕਰਿ, ਸ਼ਰਨ ਹਰਨ ਦੁਖ ਦੁੰਦ ॥੧॥
couplet –(Bhai Santokh Singh Ji is now making an invocation to Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji) the feet of Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji are like lotus blossoms they are like the clouds of bliss and give liberation. I place my forehead on the earth and now to Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji his shelter is able to eradicate even the greatest pains. 1.

ਚੌਪਈ ।
ਜਬ ਹਮ ਗਮਨੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਤ੍ਯਾਗੀ । ਬੋਲੇ ਸੰਤ ਗਿਰਾ ਅਨੁਰਾਗੀ ।
'ਆਰਬਲਾਲਘੁ ਬਾਲ ਸੁਚਾਲੀ । ਗਿਰਾ ਵਿਰਾਗ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਲ ਸਾਲੀ ॥੨॥
Bhai Bala Ji is saying
quatrain -- when we left the holy men to come back the holy man then asked the Mahant the following question, "the boy was at such a young age his words were full of meditation and dispassionate nature." 2.

ਤੁਮ ਸੋਂ, ਆਨਿ ਕੀਨ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਊ । ਮ੍ਰਿਦੁਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਬਿਸਾਲ ਸੁਭਾਊ ।
ਭੋਜਨ ਸੌਜ ਆਨਿ ਜਬ ਬੈਸੇ । ਚਲਨ ਰਜਾਇ ਦੀਨ ਤੁਮ ਕੈਸੇ ? ' ॥੩॥
"He met you Mahant with great love and affection and he had a very gracious nature. When they came back to as with all the food why did your permission to leave?" 3.

ਸੁਨਿ ਮਹੰਤ ਬੋਲ੍ਯੋ ਬਰਬਾਨੀ । 'ਇਹ ਕੋ ਪਰਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਸੁਖਦਾਨੀ ।
ਕਲਾਵਾਨ ਗ੍ਯਾਨੀ ਗੁਨਖਾਨੀ । ਦੁਰ੍ਯੋ ਰਹੈ ਗਤਿ ਪਰਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਨੀ ॥੪॥
Hearing this question the Mahant replied, "this child is a great being and the powerful manifestation who has come to the for the sake of others. He is powerful, knowledgeable and is a treasure trove of all virtues. He is keeping himself hidden from the world people do not understand who you truly is." 4.

ਭਯੋ ਅਸਹਿ ਮੁਝ ਤੇਜ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਊ । ਯਾਂ ਤੇ ਦੀਨੀ ਜਾਨਿ ਰਜਾਊ ।
ਅਸ ਕਹਿ ਤਬ ਕੀਨੋ ਪੁਨ ਅਸਨਾ । ਖਾਨ ਲਗੇ ਸ੍ਵਾਦਨ ਲੇ ਰਸਨਾ ॥੫॥
"I was unable to cope with his magnificence. For this reason I gave him permission to leave." After saying this the holy men made their food and ate it. The food is full of flavour and everybody began to eat it. 5.

ਸਿਤਾ ਘ੍ਰਿੱਤ ਮੇਲ੍ਯੋ ਸੰਗ ਪਾਇਸੁ । ਸੰਤ ਛੁਧਾਤੁਰ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੇ ਖਾਇਸੁ ।
ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਸੀਦ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਬਚਨ ਬਖਾਨੇ । 'ਇਹ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਪਨ੍ਯੋ ਹਮ ਜਾਨੈ ॥੬॥
The holy man-made rice pudding using the clarified butter and sugar. All the holy man became full after eating their meals and due to them being happy in their mind said, "we understand that God is the one that gave us this meal". 6.

ਕਿਧੌ ਸਰੀਰ ਧਾਰਿ ਕਰਤਾਰਾ । ਆਨਿ ਲੀਨਿ ਸੁਧਿ, ਦੀਨ ਅਹਾਰਾ ।
ਸਪਤ ਦਿਵਸ ਕੇ ਛੁਧ ਸੰਤਾਏ । ਅਬ ਭੋਜਨ ਕਰਿ ਹਮ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਏ ॥੭॥
"It seems as if the Lord has manifested as the young child to find out how we were and to feed us. For seven days we had remained hungry and after eating the food we are full." 7.

ਇਤ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੁਰ ਦਿਸ਼ ਗਵਨੂ । ਅਰਧ ਪੰਥ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਗੁਨ ਭਵਨੂ ।
ਸੋਚ ਬਿਮੋਚਨ ਸੋਚਨ ਲਾਗੇ । ਹਟਕਤਿ ਚਿਤ, ਪਗ ਪਰਹਿਂ ਨ ਆਗੇ ॥੮॥
At the same time Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was walking towards his village and half of the journey was covered. Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji began to think to himself and due to this it was causing him to hesitate to walk to the village. 8.

ਚਿੰਤਾਤੁਰ ਸੇ ਹ੍ਵ ਗੁਨਖਾਨੀ । ਬੋਲੇ ਮੁਝ ਸੋਂ ਅਸ ਬਿਧਿ ਬਾਨੀ ।
'ਇਹ ਕੀਨੋ ਕ੍ਯਾ ਹਮ ਨੈਂ ਕਾਮਾ । ਉੱਤਰ ਕੋ ਦੈ ਹੈਂ ਚਲਿ ਧਾਮਾ ॥੯॥
The house of treasured Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji began to worry and he said to Bhai Bala Ji, "what have we done what I do say when I get home?" 9.

ਪਿਤ ਕੋ ਅਧਿਕ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਉਪਜੈ ਹੈ । ਮੁਝ ਤੁਝ ਸੋਂ, ਦੇ ਗਾਰਿ ਲਰੈ ਹੈ ' ।
ਮੈਂ ਭਾਖ੍ਯੋ 'ਕਛੁ ਦੋਸ਼ ਨ ਮੇਰੋ । ਤੁਮ ਕੋ ਬਰਜ ਰਹ੍ਯੋ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੋ ॥੧੦॥
"My father will be very angry, he will be abusive towards us and threatening." Bhai Bala Ji replied, "this is no fault of mine I try to stop you." 10.

ਆਪ ਜਾਨਿ ਕੈ ਕੀਨ ਕੁਕਾਜੂ । ਚਿਤ ਕਿਉਂ ਚਿੰਤ ਧਰੀ ਤੁਮ ਆਜੂ ।
ਅਬ ਜਿਮ ਹੋਇ ਸਹਹੁ ਸੋ ਰੀਤੀ । ਸੂਧੀ ਹਇ ਅਥਵਾ ਬਿੱਪ੍ਰੀਤੀ ॥੧੧॥
"I tried to stop you at that moment and what you have done is the opposite of what your father wanted." By now Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was beginning to worry. He thought to himself, whatever happens now happens whether was right or wrong! 11.

ਮੁਝ ਕੋ ਚਿੰਤ ਨ ਏਕ ਬਿਆਪੇ । ਧਨ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਖਰਚ੍ਯੋ ਤੁਮ ਆਪੇ ।
ਬਹੁਰ ਨ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਮ ਸੇ ਕਛੁ ਸ੍ਯਾਨਾ । ਸਭਿ ਜਾਨਹਿਂਗੇ ਬੈਸ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥੧੨॥
Bhai Bala Ji said, "I do not even have one worry as the money belonged to you and you spent it. Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji compared you are not an intellectual and everybody will realise that our ages are similar." 12.

ਪੁਨ ਮੈਂ ਹੋਂ ਆਇਸੁ ਅਨੁਸਾਰੀ । ਤਵ ਪਿਤ ਭੇਜ੍ਯੋ ਦਾਸ ਵਿਚਾਰੀ ।
ਯਾਂ ਤੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਨ ਮਮ ਪਰ ਠਾਨਹਿ । ਕਰਮ ਸ਼ੁਭਾਸ਼ੁਭ ਤੁਮਰੋ ਜਾਨਹਿ ' ॥੧੩॥
"I am a servant and I do as you ask. Your father sent me with you knowing that I would assist you. For this reason he should not be unhappy with me. Have you did good or bad it should not affect me." 13.

ਗਟੀ ਗਿਨਤਿ ਬੋਲਤਿ ਬਚ ਦੋਊ । ਨਿਯਰਾਨੀ ਤਲਵੰਡੀ ਸੋਊ ।
ਹੌਂ ਤੋ ਚਲਿ ਆਯੋ ਨਿਜ ਸਦਨਾ । ਪੁਰਿ ਨ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ੇ ਪੰਕਜ ਬਦਨਾ ॥੧੪॥
In this way they are both talking and they had reached their village of Talwandi. Bhai Bala Ji says that he returned to his home however Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji did not return into the village. 14.

ਏਕ ਤਾਲ ਜਲ ਹੀਨ ਜੁ ਦੂਰੀ । ਤਹਿਂ ਬੈਸੇ ਬੈਸਕ ਜਿਨ ਰੂਰੀ ।
ਸੁਨ੍ਯੋ ਜਬਹਿ ਆਯੋ ਘਰਿ ਬਾਲਾ । ਭਯੋ ਹਉਲ ਕਾਲੂ ਤਤਕਾਲਾ ॥੧੫॥
On the outskirts of the village there was a dried up pool is where Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji sat. When Baba Kalu Ji had heard that Bhai Bala Ji had returned to the village he began to worry. 15.

ਦਾਸ ਪਠਾਇ ਮੁਝਹਿ ਬੁਲਵਾਧਾ । ਕੂ੍ਰ ਬਿਲੋਕਤਿ ਬਚਨ ਅਲਾਯਾ ।
'ਕਹਾਂ ਕਾਰਖਿਕ, ਨਾਨਕ ਕਹਿਂਵਾ ? । ਤਜ੍ਯੋ ਸੰਗ ਕਿਉਂ ਪਾਛੇ ਰਹਿਵਾ ? ॥੧੬॥
Bhai Bala Ji says that Baba Kalu Ji got one of his servants asked me to come to his home address. He looked at me with anger in his eyes and said, "where is the money and where is my son? Why has he left you and why has he remained behind?" 16.

ਬਨਜ੍ਯੋ ਬਨਜ ਕਿਧੌਂ ਤੁਮ ਨਾਹੀ ? । ਬਿਨ ਦਿਯ ਸੁਧ ਗਾ ਨਿਜ ਘਰ ਮਾਂਹੀ ।
ਕਿਹ ਨਗਰੀ ਮਹਿਂ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਛੋਰਾ ? । ਰੂਠ ਰਹ੍ਯੋ ਕਿਉਂ ਤੈਂ ਨ ਬਹੋਰਾ ? ॥੧੭॥
"I told you to go and purchase a bargain if you do this or did you not? Without telling me what happened you have returned to your house. In which village do you leave my son? Did you have a good argument? Why have you returned without him?" 17.

ਅਸ ਬਚ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਗਿਰਾ ਉਬਾਚੀ । ਜਸ ਬਿਧਿ ਬਿਤੀ ਬਤਾਈ ਸਾਚੀ ।
'ਇਕ ਕਾਨਨ ਮੈਂ ਹੁਤੇ ਫਕੀਰਾ । ਚਲੇ ਜਾਤਿ ਬੈਸੇ ਤਿਨ ਤੀਰਾ ॥੧੮॥
After listening to the words of Baba Kalu Ji which were full of anger I told him the truth. "We went into a jungle full of holy men and we ended up sitting with them." 18.

ਕਛੁਕ ਪਰਸਪਰ ਬੋਲਨ ਕੀਨਾ । ਭੋਜਨ ਹਿਤ ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਧਨ ਦੀਨਾ ।
ਕਹਿਨ ਲਗੇ ਪਿਤ ਆਇਸੁ ਜੈਸੀ । ਭਲੇ ਬਨਜੇ ਕੀ ਕੀਨੀ ਤੈਸੀ ॥੧੯॥
"We had a question and answer session with them and the money was given to them so they could purchase food. Then Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji said that we were to make an acquisition which would make profit as Baba Kalu Ji said and this is a profitable acquisition." 19.

ਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਦਰਬ ਘਰਨ ਮੁਰਿ ਆਏ । ਨਗਰ ਵਹਿਰ ਬੈਸੇ ਕਿਸਥਾਏ ।
ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕਰਨ ਤੁਮ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਧਰਿ ਕੈ । ਸਦਨ ਨ ਆਏ ਇਹੈ ਬਿਚਰਿਕੈ ' ॥੨੦॥
"The money was given to the holy men and we returned home. His son is currently sitting somewhere outside of the village. He is afraid of you as he knows you are going to be angry. He thought about what he had done and due to this he did not return." 20.

ਅਸ ਸੁਨਿ ਕਾਲੂ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨ ਥੋਰਾ । ਪਰਸਤਿ ਘ੍ਰਿਤ, ਜ੍ਯੋਂ ਪਾਵਕ ਜੋਰਾ ।
ਕਹੈ ਕਿ 'ਮੁਝ ਕੋ ਦੋਹੁ ਬਤਾਈ । ਚਲਹੁ ਸੰਗ ਬੈਸ੍ਯੋ ਜਿਹ ਥਾਂਈ ॥੨੧॥
Hearing this Baba Kalu Ji became very angry in a way that clarified butter melts due to the intense heat of fire. Baba Kalu Ji said to Bhai Bala Ji, "tell me where he is and accompany me to where he is." 21.

ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਬੋਲਿਤ ਗਿਰਾ ਕਠੋਰਾ । ਲੇ ਮੁਝ ਸੰਗ ਚਲਯੋ ਤਿਨ ੳੋਰਾ ।
ਸੁਨੀ ਮਾਤ ਸਭਿ ਧਨ ਕੀ ਗਾਥਾ । ਖੋਜਨਗਾ ਕਾਲੂ ਰਿਸਿ ਸਾਥਾ ' ॥੨੨॥
Baba Kalu Ji was saying many things out of anger and he took me along with him. When Mata Tripta Ji had heard about the squandered wealth in Baba Kalu Ji had gone in to find his son. 22.

ਤੁਰਤ ਤਬਹਿ ਤਨਿਯਾ ਕੋ ਭੇਜਾ । ਪਤਿ ਰਿਸ ਤੇ ਉਠਿ ਧਰਕ ਕਰੇਜਾ ।
ਬਹੁਰੋ ਦਾਸੀ ਦਾਸ ਪਠਾਏ । ਹਿਤ ਬਿਲੋਕਨੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਿਧਾਏ ॥੨੩॥
At that moment more than Mata Tripta Ji called for daughter as she was worried from seeing her husband anger. She sent all of her servants along with all the other people from the village who were aware of what had happened. 23.

ਬਹਿਰ ਜਾਇ ਪਿ਼ਖਿ ਜਲ ਬਿਨ ਤਾਲਾ । ਬੈਸੇ ਨੀਵ ਸਥਾਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲਾ ।
ਅਵਿਲੋਕ੍ਯੋ ਕਾਲੂ ਜਿਹ ਕਾਲਾ । ਬੋਲਤਿ ਭਾ ਦੁਰਬਚਨ ਬਿਸਾਲਾ ॥੨੪॥
Outside the village they found the dried up pool where Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was sitting. When Baba Kalu Ji saw him he started to turn them off and used abusive language. 24.

ਗਹਿ ਕਰ ਬੂਝਤਿ ਰਿਸ ਕਰਿ ਭਾਰੀ । 'ਕਹਾਂ ਕਾਰਖਿਕ ? ਸਦਨ ਉਜਾਰੀ ! ।
ਕਹਾਂ ਬਨਜ ਜੋ ਤੈਂ ਕਰਿ ਲ੍ਯਾਯੋ ? । ਘਰ ਜਨਮ੍ਯੋ ਮਮ ਨਾਮ ਗਵਾਯੋ ' ॥੨੫॥
Baba Kalu Ji grabbed Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and in anger asked, "you're the destroyer of my house where are the 20 rupees? Where is the acquisition that you have purchased? By taking both in my house you have ruined my good name." 25.

ਸੁਨਿ ਕਮਲਾਨਨ ਤੂਸ਼ਨ ਠਾਨੀ । ਪਿਤ ਬੁਲਾਇ, ਨਹਿਂ ਬੋਲਤਿ ਬਾਨੀ ।
ਯਾਂ ਤੇ ਅਧਿਕ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕਰਿ ਕਾਲੂ । ਕਰੀ ਤਾੜਨਾ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਬਿਸਾਲੂ ॥੨੬॥
The Lotus faced Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji had all this but remained quiet. Baba Kalu Ji tries to have a conversation with but he still continues to say nothing. Baba Kalu Ji was very angry and this made people fear him. 26.

ਦਹਿਨ ਹਾਥ ਤੇ ਬਾਮ ਕਪੋਲਾ । ਹਨੇ ਤਮਾਚੇ ਬਲ ਸੋਂ ਤੋਲਾ ।
ਬਾਮ ਹਾਥ ਤੇ ਦਹਿਨ ਗੰਡਸਥਲ । ਹਨੇ ਚਪੇਟਨ ਰਿਸ ਕਰਿ ਨਿਜ ਬਲ ॥੨੭॥
Baba Kalu Ji hit Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji on his right cheek using his left hand using full force. And Baba Kalu Ji using is right hand grabbed Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji ears. 27.

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਨੈਨਨ ਨੀਰਾ । ਨਿਕਸ ਚਲ੍ਯੋ ਜਿਉਂ ਮਾਨੀ ਪੀਰਾ ।
ਮਨਹੁ ਮੀਨ ਦੋ ਪੀ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਨੀ । ਬਮਨਤਿ ਸੋ ਅਸ ਪਰਿਹੀ ਜਾਨੀ ॥੨੮॥
Tears began to flow from the eyes of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The water was streaming from the eyes of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji as if two fish are drinking water and this is the opposite. 28.

ਭਰੇ ਕਮਲ ਦਲ ਜਲ ਜਿਉਂ ਸੋਭਾ । ਬੁੰਦਨ ਪਰ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਲੋਭਾ ।
ਸੋਹਤ ਪਰਿ ਗਏ ਨੀਲ ਕਪੋਲਾ । ਜਿਉਂ ਉਤਪਲ ਪਰ ਅਲਿਨ ਅਡੋਲਾ ॥੨੯॥
The tears are flowing from the eyes of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and it is giving him glory in this manner, it is as if the drops of water flowing down the side of a Lotus Blossom. In the face of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji is turning dark due to the physical abuse as if they are insects or over a Lotus Blossom. 29.

ਕਿਧੋਂ ਹੁਤੋ ਅਕਲੰਕ ਮਯੰਕਾ । ਮ੍ਰਿਗਛਾਲਾ ਤੇ ਭਯੋ ਸੁਅੰਕਾ ।
ਪਹੁੰਚੀ ਨਿਕਟ ਨਾਨਕੀ ਤੂਰਨ । ਪਿਤ ਕਰ ਗਹ੍ਯੋਂ, ਜੁ ਰਿਸ ਮੈਂ ਪੂਰਨ ॥੩੦॥
It is as if the moon has no blemish and now features a shadow of a deer. Then his sister Bibi Nanaki arrived at the location. She grabbed Baba Kalu Ji’s hand who was still very angry at the time. 30.

ਬਹੁਰ ਬਿਲੋਕਨ ਲੋਕ ਜਿ ਆਏ । ਬਰਜ੍ਯੋ ਬਹੁਤਿ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਸਮਝਾਏ ।
ਸੁਖਸਾਗਰ ਕੋ ਲੇ ਨਿਜ ਸੰਗਾ । ਨਰ ਪੌਂਛਤਿ ਮੁਖ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਉਮੰਗਾ ॥੩੧॥
Then a lot of people from the village came to see what was happening. They tried to prevent Baba Kalu Ji and make him understand. They took the ocean of peace Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji with them. They clean the face of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. 31.

ਮ੍ਰਿਦੁਲ ਗਿਰਾ ਕਹਿ ਦੇਤਿ ਦਿਲਾਸਾ । ਮੰਦ ਮੰਦ ਗਮਨੇ ਪੁਰਿ ਆਸਾ ।
ਮਾਤ ਬਿਲੋਕਤਿ ਲੋਚਨ ਲਾਈ । ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਹਿਰ ਪੁਰਿ ਆਈ ॥੩੨॥
They said sweet things to Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in order to calm him down. They slowly walked Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji into the village. At that point his mother was looking out to the edge of the village to see what's happening. Her heart was full of love. 32.

ਸਜਲ ਬਿਲੋਚਨ ਸੁਤਹਿ ਬਿਲੋਕੀ । ਭਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੀ ਉਮਗ ਅਰੋਕੀ ।
ਕੰਠ ਲਗਾਇ ਨੈਨ ਭਰਿ ਆਏ । ਅੱਸ੍ਰੁ ਸੰਗ ਸੁਤ ਅੰਗ ਭਿਗਾਏ ॥੩੩॥
She saw that some had been crying and his eyes were full of tears. These tears do not seem to stop listening to be imbued with love. She had a son and put his head towards her neck, she also began to cry. She was crying so much that her tears wet her sons limbs. 33.

ਆਨਿ ਸਦਨ ਮਹਿਂ ਬਦਨ ਨਿਹਾਰੀ । ਪੌਂਛਤਿ ਚਾਰੁ ਬਿਲੋਚਨ ਬਾਰੀ ।
'ਸੁਤ ਨ ਕਰਹੁ ਕਾਰਜ ਅਬ ਕੋਊ । ਬਿਚਰਹੁ ਪੁਰਿ ਮਹਿਂ ਸ੍ਵੇਛਾ ਹੋਊ ॥੩੪॥
After coming home the mother looked at her son's face. She was looking at his beautiful face was cleaning his tears and she said to him, "now some do not do any work. Whatever you desire to do just do that within the village." 34.

ਜੇ ਨ ਕਰਹੁਗੇ ਕੋ ਬਿਵਹਾਰਾ । ਨਹਿਂ ਬਿਗਰੈ ਕਛੁ, ਹੋਇ ਨ ਰਾਰਾ ।
ਸਦਨ ਦੀਨ ਸੁਖ ਸਰਬ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ । ਬੈਠੇ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਹੁ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ' ॥੩੫॥
"Even if you are not to do any of the household work neither will nothing go wrong and there will be no arguments or fights. God has already given all of the material objects that we require in this house so we can live peacefully. You can remain at home imbued and coloured in the name of God." 35.

ਕੇਤਿਕ ਮਾਨਵ ਦੇਖਨ ਹਾਰੇ । ਜਸਪਦ ਗਏ ਰਾਇ ਕੇ ਦ੍ਵਾਰੇ ।
ਜਹਿਂ ਬੈਸ੍ਯੋ ਨਿਜ ਸਭਾ ਲਗਾਈ । ਤਹਾਂ ਜਾਇ ਸਭਿ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨਾਈ ॥੩੬॥
The people of the village who saw the incident took place they all went to the house off Rai Bular. This was their Rai Bular was sat in his glory and they told him what had taken place. 36.

'ਬੀਸ ਰਜਤਪਣ ਕਾਲੂ ਨੰਦਨ । ਦੀਨੇ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੋ ਕਰਿ ਬੰਦਨ ।
ਦਯਾ ਯੁਕਤਿ ਜਿਹ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੁਲ ਸੁਭਾਊ । ਨਗਨ ਛੁਧਾਤੁਰ ਪਿਖਿ ਨ ਸਕਾਊ ॥੩੭॥
They told him, "Baba Kalu Ji had given his son 20 rupees which he had donated to the holy men so that they can eat. Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji is an individual or great mercy and piety. As he cannot bear to see anybody hungry or without food." 37.

ਕਾਲੂ ਹਨੇ ਚਪੇਟਨ ਜੋਰਾ । ਅਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਾਸਤਿ ਜਿਹ ਤਰਸ ਨ ਥੋਰਾ ' ।
ਸੁਨਤਿ ਕਾਨ ਇਵ ਰਾਇ ਬੁਲਾਰਾ । ਸ੍ਰੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਹਂ ਕੋ ਬਹੁ ਪ੍ਯਾਰਾ ॥੩੮॥
"Baba Kalu Ji hit him with some force and was not worried at all for his son." When Rai Bular heard this about Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji who he adored very much. 38.

ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸੰਗ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਪਰਿ ਪੂਰਨ । ਦਾਸ ਬੁਲਾਇ ਪਠਾਯੋ ਤੂਰਨ ।
'ਕਮਲ ਨੈਨ ਆਨਹੁ ਮੁਝ ਐਨਾ । ਕਾਲੂ ਸਹਿਤ ਜਿਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਭੈ ਨਾ ' ॥੩੯॥
His heart was full of love for Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji he sent one of his servants to the house of Baba Kalu Ji. He said, "bring the Lotus eyed Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji to my house along with Baba Kalu Ji who seems to have no fear of God." 39.

ਅਸ ਕਹਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਅਧਿਕ ਮਨ ਛਾਵਾ । ਫਰਕਤਿ ਅਧਰ ਰਿਦੈ ਦੁਖ ਪਾਵਾ ।
ਸੀਤਲ ਸ੍ਵਾਸ ਲੇਤਿ ਬਹੁ ਬਾਰੀ । ਮਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਹੋਤਿ ਅਵੱਗ੍ਯਾ ਭਾਰੀ ॥੪੦॥
After saying this Rai Bular was very angry you felt pain in his heart and his lips began to tremble. Because of what happened he started to take cold breath and he thought to himself that within his village a great injustice just a place. 40.

ਕਲਾਵਾਨ, ਕਲਹੀਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲਾ । ਹ੍ਵੈ ਤਾਂ ਕੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਕਾਰ ਬਿਸਾਲਾ ।
ਲਾਗਹਿ ਮੁਝ ਸਰੀਰ ਸਭਿ ਦੋਸ਼ੂ । ਅਸ ਬਿਸੂਰ ਉਰ ਸਰਸਤਿ ਰੋਸੂ ॥੪੧॥
Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji is powerful, does not ever want to fight and is graceful. Within my village a great disrespect has taken place towards him. Due to this great stigma of sin will attach itself to me. In this way is thinking is my hand is very upset and angry. 41.

ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਕੋ ਤੇ ਕਰਿ ਦਾਸਾ । ਪਹੁੰਚ੍ਯੋ ਤਬ ਬੁਲਾਰ ਕੇ ਪਾਸਾ ।
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰੂਪ ਪੂਰਨ ਉਰ ਬਾਰਾ । ਲੋਚਨਦਰ ਜਨੁ ਛੁਟ੍ਯੋ ਫੁਹਾਰਾ ॥੪੨॥
Then the servant brought Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji to Rai Bular. The heart of Rai Bular was full of love as if it was full of water, and this love had now become a fountain. 42.

ਭਏ ਜਲਜ ਤੇ ਜਲਦ ਸਜਲ ਸੋ । ਨਿਜ ਧਾਰਾ ਗੇਰਤਿ ਤਲ ਥਲ ਸੋਂ ।
ਤੂਰਨ ਤਜਿ ਕਰਿ ਉਠ੍ਯੋ ਪ੍ਰਯੰਕਾ । ਕਰਿ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਲੀਨ ਭਰਿ ਅੰਕਾ ॥੪੩॥
The eyes of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji were full of tears and like a cloud the waters falling from the eyes of the guru. Rai Bular got off his throne and hugged Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. 43.

ਗਦਗਦ ਗਿਰਾ ਅੱਸ਼੍ਰੁ ਬਹਿ ਬਾਰੀ । ਅੰਗ ਭਿਗੋਏ ਕਰੁਨਾ ਧਾਰੀ ।
ਬੋਲਨ ਚਹਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਤਿ ਬਾਨੀ । ਮਹਾਂ ਮੋਹ ਮੈਂ ਮਤਿ ਲਪਟਾਨੀ ॥੪੪॥
Rai Bular was unable to talk properly and tears started streaming from his eyes and he had soaked the limbs of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji with his tears. Rai Bular wishes to speak when he can't and his intellect has become enchanted by attachment to Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. 44.

ਨਿਕਟ ਜਿ ਨਰ ਕਰੁਨਾ ਮਨ ਠਾਨਹਿਂ । ਕਾਲੂ ਕੌ ਕੁਸ਼ੀਲ ਪਹਿਚਾਨਹਿਂ ।
ਰਾਇ ਸੁਨਾਇ ਬਚਨ ਕਹਿ ਨਿੰਦਹਿਂ । ਕੂ੍ਰ ਕਰਮ ਕੀਨੋ ਮਨ ਬਿੰਦਹਿਂ ॥੪੫॥
The other people present in the court of Rai Bular began to feel sympathetic, they will do so Baba Kalu Ji to be very harsh. They are telling Rai Bular what took place and are slandering Baba Kalu Ji. They all understand in their hearts that what Baba Kalu Ji did was very wrong. 45.

ਨੀਲ ਕਪੋਲ ਬਿਲੋਕਤਿ ਲੋਚਨ । ਮ੍ਰਿਦੁਲ ਲਖਹਿ ਕਰ ਅੱਸ਼ੂ੍ ਮੋਚਨ ।
ਧਰਿ ਧੀਰਜ ਉਰ ਰਾਇ ਬੁਲਾਰੂ । ਪਰਖ ਸਮਰਖਹਿ ਕੀਨਿ ਉਚਾਰੂ ॥੪੬॥
Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was turning blue and he was still crying. At that point in Rai Bular said the following words out of anger. 46.

'ਕਾਲੂ ਕਲਹੀ ਕੁ੍ਰ ਕਠੋਰਾ । ਏਕ ਨ ਮਾਨ੍ਯੋ ਤੈਂ ਬਚ ਮੋਰਾ ।
ਕਰੁਨਾਹੀਨ, ਕੁਸ਼ੀਲ, ਕੁਢਾਲੀ । ਸੁਧ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਰਿਦਾ ਤਵ ਖਾਲੀ ॥੪੭॥
"Baba Kalu Ji your attitude is very feisty your very harsh and cruel. You did not
listen to one word that I said to you. You're bad, and intelligent and without mercy. Your heart does not listen to the news from the other world." 47.

ਦਿਨਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਬ੍ਰਿੱਧਤਿ ਮਨ ਧਨ ਲੋਭਾ । ਸੁਤ ਸੁਸ਼ੀਲ ਕੀ ਲਖਤਿ ਨ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ।
ਸੁਖ ਇਸ ਲੋਕਹਿ ਦੀਨ ਬਿਸਾਰੀ । ਜਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਪਰ ਡੀਠ ਸੁਧਾਰੀ ॥੪੮॥
"Daily your greed for wealth is increasing once your son is great and you do not understand his glory. Your son has forgotten and discarded all of the things regarded as bliss in this world and he only looked towards the next world." 48.

ਅਸ ਸੁਤ ਉਚਿਤ ਨ ਤਵ ਘਰ ਮਾਂਹੀ । ਛੱਤ੍ਰੀ ਬਰਨ ਕਰਮ ਤਸ ਨਾਂਹੀ ।
ਕਲਪ ਬ੍ਰਿੱਛ ਜਿਉਂ ਨਿਪਜਹਿ ਮਾਰੂ । ਜਿਉਂ ਸੰਬਕ ਤੇ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਚਾਰੂ ॥੪੯॥
"This type of son should not have been born in your house as you were born into the cache of warriors but you are not one. It is as if they wish fulfilling tree has been born on this earth and is like a pearl has come from an oyster. The oyster has no concern for the Pearl and that is the same as you Baba Kalu Ji." 49.

ਤਿਉਂ ਅਜੋਗ ਬਿਧਿ ਮੈਂ ਲਖਿ ਲੀਨੀ । ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਪਰਹਿ ਨ ਚੀਨੀ ' ।
ਲੱਜਤਿ ਕਾਲੂ ਸਭਾ ਮਝਾਰਾ । ਪੁਨ ਬੁਲਾਰ ਸੋਂ ਬਚਨ ਉਚਾਰਾ ॥੫੦॥
"I have understood that the rightful place for Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji to stay in your house. You do not understand the knowledge of God." Baba Kalu Ji was embarrassed in this way and he said to Rai Bular. 50.

'ਮੁਝ ਸੋਂ ਕਰਤਿ ਅਧਿਕ ਤੁਮ ਰੋਸੂ । ਰਿਦੈ ਬਿਚਾਰੋ ਕਿਹ ਕੇ ਦੋਸ਼ੂ ।
ਬਨਜ ਹੇਤ ਘਰ ਤੇ ਦਿਯ ਦਰਬਾ । ਜਾਇ ਫਕੀਰਨ ਅਰਪ੍ਯੋ ਸਰਬਾ ॥੫੧॥
"Rai Bular your very angry with me, look into mind and deliberate on who you actually angry with. I gave Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji 20 rupees in order to go on purchase a commodity but he gave it away to the holy men." 51.

ਵਹਿਰ ਨਗਰ ਤੇ ਬੈਸ੍ਯੋ ਦੁਰਿ ਕੈ । ਉਤਰ ਦੀਨੋ ਕੋ ਘਰ ਮੁਰਿ ਕੈ ।
ਬਾਲੇ ਕਹੀ ਹਕੀਕਤ ਸਾਰੀ । ਤਹਿਂ ਬੈਸ੍ਯੋ ਸੁਰ ਜਹਿਂ ਬਿਨ ਬਾਰੀ ' ॥੫੨॥
"But on his way back he hit outside the village and he did not tell me what took place. Bhai Bala Ji told me what took place and told me that he was sitting in the empty pool." 52.

ਜਬ ਕੋ ਜਨਮ੍ਯੋ ਸੁਰਤ ਸੰਭਾਰਾ । ਕਈ ਬਾਰ ਇਉਂ ਸਦਨ ਉਜਾਰਾ ' ।
ਸੁਨਿ ਬੁਲਾਰ ਪੁਨ ਗਿਰਾ ਬਖਾਨੀ । 'ਤਵ ਉਰ ਪਾਹਨ, ਨਿੰਦਾ ਠਾਨੀ ॥੫੩॥
"From the time that he was born to be independent he has ruined everything in my house." Rai Bular heard this and replied, "your heart is like a stone and you slander Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji." 53.

ਪੁੱਤ੍ਰ ਨੇਹ, ਨਹਿਂ ਭੈ ਜਗਤੇਸ਼ਾ । ਪਰਮਾਰਥ ਕੀ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਨ ਲੇਸ਼ਾ ।
ਲੋਭ ਲਹਿਰ ਉਰ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਖਾਲੀ । ਅਜਮਤ ਸਮਝਤਿ ਚਿਤ ਨ ਬਿਸਾਲੀ ॥੫੪॥
"Neither do you love your son or fearful of God. You do not seem to have any intellect with in you. Because of greed your heart is without love and affection. You cannot understand the miracles and fame of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji." 54.

ਬਰ ਪਾਰਸ ਘਰ ਪਰਹਰਿ ਉਰ ਤੇ । ਚਾਹਤਿ ਫਿਰਤਿ ਸੁ ਕੌਡੀ ਪਰ ਤੇ ।
ਜਿਉਂ ਅਜਾਨ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੀਰਾ । ਕਿਉਂ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਰੰਕ ਅਧੀਰਾ ॥੫੫॥
"It is as if you had the philosopher's Stone in your house and have discarded it. Instead you seem to have gone begging for seashells. It is as if a person does not know about stone and comes across a valuable diamond and because they do not have knowledge they suffer. In the same way you do not understand your son and suffer." 55.

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਨ ਧਰਿ ਘਰ ਹਿੰਦੂ । ਤੁਰਕ ਜਨਮ ਅਪਨੋ ਮਨ ਬਿੰਦੂ ।
ਅਸਮੰਜਸ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਹੈ ਨਿਜ ਸਦਮਾ । ਰਾਖੋਂ ਜੇ ਮੁਕੰਦ ਪਦ ਪਦਮਾ ॥੫੬॥
Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji took birth in the Hindu household but I do understand the ways of the Muslim household. It would be very strange if I was to bring Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji into my house who is the granter of liberation. 56.

ਧਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਕਾਲੂ ਉਰ ਤੇਰੇ । ਇਨ ਕੋ ਖਰਚ ਲੇਹੁ ਘਰ ਮੇਰੇ ' ।
ਅਸ ਕਹਿ ਦਾਸ ਪਠਾ ਤਤਕਾਲਾ । ਜਹਿਂ ਰਾਨੀ ਖੋਖਰ ਮਧਸਾਲਾ ॥੫੭॥
"Baba Kalu Ji you seem to be just greedy in your mind so whatever money you want for Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji take it from my house." After he said this one of the servants who came with Baba Kalu Ji was sent to Rai Bular’s wife Rani Khokhri." 57.

ਬੀਸ ਰਜਤਪਣ ਆਨ ਸੁ ਦੀਨੇ । ਲੀਨਿ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਨਿਜ ਪਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨੇ ।
ਜਬਹਿ ਦੇਨ ਲਾਗ੍ਯੋ ਕਰ ਕਾਲੂ । ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕੈ ਬੋਲ੍ਯੋ ਲਜਤਿ ਬਿਸਾਲੂ ॥੫੮॥
The servant went and got 20 rupees and gave it to Rai Bular. When I will argue this money to Baba Kalu Ji then Baba Kalu Ji said out of embarrassment. 58.

'ਨਹੀਂ ਬਿਸੂਰਤਿ ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਦਰਬਾ । ਕਰਤਾ ਸਦਾ ਕੁ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਰਬਾ ।
ਮੁਝ ਪਾਛੇ ਨਿਜ ਘਰ ਬਿਵਹਾਰਾ । ਕਿਉਂ ਨਿਰਬਾਹਹਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥੫੬॥
"I have not come here for money but he ruined everything in the house tell me after I die housing in to run the house?" 59.

ਤੁਮ ਜੋ ਦੇਨਿ ਦਰਬ ਅਬ ਲਾਗੇ । ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਦੀਨੇ ਕਿਨ ਆਗੇ ।
ਤਵ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਸਭਿ ਕੁਛ ਮੁਝ ਸਦਨਾ । ਤਵ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦ ਕਰਿ ਦਾਰਿਦ ਰਦਨਾ ' ॥੬੦॥
"The money you are about to give me who has given me all the other blissful items in my house? Due to your grace I have everything in my house. Due to your grace any worries are far away from them." 60.

ਕਹ੍ਯੋ ਰਾਇ 'ਅਬ ਤੋ ਇਹ ਲੀਜੈ । ਬਹੁਰੋ ਯਾਂ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਾਰਜ ਕੀਜੈ ।
ਅਸਨ ਬਸਨ ਤੇ ਖਰਚ ਜੁ ਸਰਬਾ । ਮਮ ਢਿਗ ਤੇ ਗਿਨ ਕਰਿ ਲਿਹੁ ਦਰਬਾ ॥੬੧॥
Rai Bular said, "now take this money and do not do this again. Whatever is your expense on Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji take that from me." 61.

ਸੁਤ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਂਮਾ ਲਖਿ ਨ ਸਕਾਯਾ । ਦਰਬ ਲੋਭ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਬਿਰਮਾਯਾ ।
ਧਨ ਆਨਹਿ ਜਾਨਹਿ ਸੁਖਦਾਯਕ । ਸਤਿਪੰਥੀ ਕੋ ਕਹਿਤ ਨਲਾਯਕ ॥੬੨॥
"Baba Kalu Ji you cannot comprehend your sons glory as your heart is enchanted by greed. You only understand Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji as blissful if he is to earn a living for your household. If a person is to follow the true path you believe a person to be worthless" 62.

ਭਗਤ ਜਗਤ ਕੀ ਰਹਤਿ ਅਜੁਕਤੰ । ਇਕ ਧਨ ਗਾਹਕ ਇਕ ਲੇ ਮੁਕਤੰ ।
ਗਯੋ ਦਰਬ ਜਾਨ੍ਯੋ ਨਿਜ ਜੇਤੋ । ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਕਟ ਤੇ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਤੇਤੋ ' ॥੬੩॥
"The holy men and the world never seem to coexist happily. The people of the world accumulate wealth while the holy follow the path to liberation. You only understand the money in your house so take it from me." 63.

ਰਾਇ ਦੇਤਿ ਸੋ ਲੇਤਿ ਨ ਕਾਲੂ । ਭਯੋ ਪਰਸਪਰ ਕਹਿਨ ਬਿਸਾਲੂ ।
ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਮਾਤਯ ਬਾਤ ਮੁਖ ਭਾਖੀ । 'ਆਇਸੁ ਰਾਇ ਮੰਨ ਅਭਿਲਾਖੀ ॥੬੪॥
Rai Bular is offering the money to Baba Kalu Ji but he does not accept. Between the two they speak. The people are witnessing this incident said the following. "Understand the command of Rai Bular and accept what you say." 64.

ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਨਹਿਂ ਫੇਰ ਕਰੀਜੈ । ਬਿਨ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਬਚ ਬ੍ਰਿਧਨ ਮਨੀਜੈ ।
ਕਬਹੁਂ ਨ ਝਿਰਕਹੁ ਉਤਪਲ ਲੋਚਨ । ਤਵ ਸੁਤ ਸੰਤ ਕੁਬੰਧ ਬਿਮੋਚਨ ' ॥੬੫॥
"Again and again he should not refuse the money from Rai Bular as you should not discard an offering from your elders. Your son's eyes are like Lotus Blossom's and you should treat him with respect. Your son is the one who will break the bonds for
the Saints." 65.

ਬਹੁਤ ਬਾਰ ਕਹਿ ਰਾਇ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨੇ । ਨਿਜ ਕਰ ਤੇ ਕਾਲੂ ਕਰ ਦੀਨੇ ।
ਭੂਰ ਬਿਸੂਰਤਿ ਗਮਨ੍ਯੋ ਸਦਨਾ । ਅੰਤਰ ਬੈਸ੍ਯੋ ਲੱਜਤਿ ਬਦਨਾ ॥੬੬॥
Rai Bular said these things many times and gave his money into the hands of Baba Kalu Ji. Baba Kalu Ji walked home with regret, he was greatly embarrassed and went home and sat down. 66.

ਤਲਵੰਡੀ ਜੇਤੇ ਨਰ ਨਾਰੀ । ਸੁਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਹਹਿਂ 'ਵਡੋ ਬੁਰਿਆਰੀ ।
ਪੂਰਬ ਨਿਰਦੈ ਹੁਇ ਸੁਤ ਮਾਰਾ । ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਤੇ ਲੇ ਧਨ ਆਇ ਅਗਾਰਾ ॥੬੭॥
Although men and women in the village of Talwandi all agreed that what took place was very bad. They said initially Baba Kalu Ji hit his son and then afterwards he took money from Rai Bular and came home. 67.

ਯੁਗਲ ਕੁਕਰਮ ਕੀਨ ' ਮਨ ਬਿੰਦਹਿਂ । ਜਹਿਂ ਤਹਿਂ ਕਾਲੂ ਕੋ ਨਰ ਨਿੰਦਹਿਂ ।
ਪੁਰ ਮਹਿਂ ਸੁਨਿ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਨਿਜ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਨਾ । ਬੋਲ ਨ ਆਵ ਭਯੋ ਮੁਖ ਮੋਨਾ ॥੬੮॥
Everybody agreed that these two things that Baba Kalu Ji did were very bad and people are slandering his name. Baba Kalu Ji heard the village slandering his name he was unable to say anything in reply. 68.

ਦੁਖਤਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਮੈਂ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕਰਿ ਭਾਰੀ । ਉਰ ਬਿਸੂਰ ਕਰਿ ਭੂਰ ਵਿਚਾਰੀ ।
ਮਰਨ ਭਲੋ ਜੀਵਨ ਧਿਕ ਮੇਰੋ । ਜਹਿਂ ਤਹਿਂ ਅਪਜਸ ਭਯੋ ਘਨੋਰੋ ॥੬੯॥
In his mind he was very upset and he regretted what he did deliberating on what took place. He thought to himself, "my life is that bad at the moment I feel like dying. Due to this I'm being slandered." 69

ਲੇ ਕਰਿ ਦਰਬ ਬੁਲਾਰ ਅਗਾਰਾ । ਜਾਇ ਪਾਸ ਮੁਖ ਬਚਨ ਉਚਾਰਾ ।
'ਭੂਪਤਿ ! ਲੀਜੈ ਅਪਨੋ ਦਰਬਾ । ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਤਿ ਨਗਰ ਮਮ ਸਰਬਾ ' ॥੭੦॥
Baba Kalu Ji took the 20 rupees back to Rai Bular and he said, "please take your money back as all of the village slandering me." 70.

ਕਹਿਤਿ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਚਿਤ ਰੋਸ ਬਿਸਾਰੇ । 'ਕਮਲਨੈਨ ਤੇ ਲੀਨ ਉਧਾਰੇ ।
ਸੋ ਦੀਨੇ ਜਾਵਹੁ ਨਿਜ ਸ਼ਾਲਾ । ਪੁਨ ਨ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕਰਿ ਸੰਗ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲਾ ' ॥੭੧॥
At that point Rai Bular said, "get rid of the anger from the heart I had borrowed 20 rupees from your son and that is what it. Now you are not to be angry towards your son again." 71.

'ਜਬ ਕੋ ਜਨਮ੍ਯੋ ਇਨ ਸੁਧ ਪਾਈ । ਇਕ ਬਿਰਾਟਿਕਾ ਕਬਿ ਨ ਖਟਾਈ ।
ਆਨਿ ਕਹਾਂਤੇ ਦੀਨ ਉਧਾਰਾ ? । ਧਨ ਖੱਟਹਿ ਤੌ ਕਿਉਂ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਰਾਰਾ ' ॥੭੨॥
Baba Kalu Ji said, "since his birth he has not even earned one small coin. So where did you view this 20 rupees from? If he wants to earn his own money there would be no arguments in my house." 72.

'ਸੁਨਿ ਕਾਲੂ ਤੁਝ ਕੋ ਸੁਧ ਨਾਂਹੀ । ਮਾਯਾ ਜਿਤੀ ਪਿਖਹੁ ਜਗ ਮਾਂਹੀ ।
ਸਭਿ ਵਰਤਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਨੁਸਾਰੀ । ਪਤਿ ਰਜਾਇ ਜਿਉਂ ਪਤਿਬ੍ਰਤ ਨਾਰੀ ॥੭੩॥
Rai Bular replied, "Baba Kalu Ji you have no knowledge all of the Maya that you see in the universe is under the will of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. In the same way a wife lives in accordance to her husband." 73.

ਸੰਪਤ ਸਰਬ ਤੁਰੰਗ ਮਤੰਗਾ । ਸ੍ਯੰਦਨ ਔ ਸੁਖਪਾਲ ਸੁ ਰੰਗਾ ।
ਔਰ ਜਿ ਮੁਝ ਘਰਿ ਸਭਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ । ਕਮਲਨੈਨ ਕੀ ਕਰੁਨਾ ਪਾਈ ' ॥੭੪॥
"All of my horses, elephants, chariots, current, clothes and my fame are all due to the grace of the Lotus eyed Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji." 74.

ਸੋਰਠਾ ।
ਅਸ ਬਿਧਿ ਰਾਇ ਬੁਲਾਰ, ਕਾਲੂ ਕੋ ਸਮਝਾਵਈ ।
ਬਰ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ, ਪਰਮ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਉਪਜਾਵਈ ॥੭੫॥
Sortha -- in this way Rai Bular try to make Baba Kalu Ji understand on how to adopt great faith and he is trying to propagate the love for Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in the heart of Baba Kalu Ji. 75.

ਦੋਹਰਾ ।
ਬਦਨ ਇੰਦੁ ਛਬਿ ਮਦਨ ਸਮ ਕਨਦ ਕਲੁਖ ਦੁਖ ਮੰਦ ।
ਸ੍ਵੇਛਾ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਬਿਚਰਤਿ ਨਗਰ ਜਗਤ ਭਗਤ ਦਾਨੰਦ ॥੭੬॥
couplet -- Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji whose face is like the moon is the one to eradicate pain and sin. He is now wondering through the village is his own accordance. He is the one to give this world and blissful meditation to the saints.

ਦਹੋਰਾ ।
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਕੋ, ਹਾਥ ਜੋਰਿ ਪਰਨਾਮ ।
ਜਿਸ ਕਰੁਨਾ ਤੇ ਵਡ ਅਘੀ ਪਾਵਹਿਂ ਗਤਿ ਬਿਸਰਾਮ ॥੧॥
Couplet -- Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji is the ocean of peace and I clasp my hands and bow to him. Through the grace of the Guru the great sinners have all gained liberation. 1.

ਚੌਪਈ ।
ਤਿਹ ਕਰੁਨਾ ਕੀ ਹਮਰੇ ਟੇਕੂ । ਸੁਮਤਿ ਨ ਉਕਤਿ ਨ ਮੁਝ ਉਰ ਏਕੂ ।
ਰੁਚਿ ਊਚੀ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਕੀਰਾ । ਮਿਲੈ ਨ ਕੌਡੀ ਚਾਹਉਂ ਹੀਰਾ ॥੨॥
Quatrain -- the grace of the Guru is our support. Within me there is not even a small amount of great intellect which I can use to describe one great virtue. The way the mind is very blunt but I have one inclination. I am unable to get a small seashell but I yearn for a precious jewel. 2.

ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ ਮਤਿ ਦੇ ਮੁਝਹਿ ਬੁਲਾਈਂ । ਤਿਉਂ ਤਿਉਂ ਲਿਖੋਂ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ।
ਸ਼ਕਤਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਇਕ ਪਦ ਰਚਨਾਂ ਕੀ । ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਕਰਨ ਇਹ ਕਰੁਨਾ ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ॥੩॥
Through whatever intellect that the Guru calls me with in this way I write this blissful eulogy. Within me I do not have the power to utter one word of the eulogy, this text that I am creating is all through the grace of the guru. 3.

ਚੌਪਈ ।
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅੰਗਦ ! ਸੁਨੀਏ ਕਹਿ ਬਾਲਾ । ਸ੍ਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਕਥਾ ਰਸਾਲਾ ।
ਕੋਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਪਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਨਿਕੇਤੂ । ਬਿਚਰਹਿਂ ਨਹਿਂ ਬੇਦੀ ਕੁਲ ਕੇਤੂ ॥੪॥
Bhai Bala Ji is saying;
Quatrain -- Bhai Bala Ji is saying Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji to listen to the beautiful eulogy of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Some days he remained at home in a dispassionate state, he is the insignia for the Bedi lineage. 4.

ਕਬਹਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਕਾਲੂ ਪਰਤੀਤੂ । ਬਚਨ ਸੁਨਤਿ ਬਿਸਮੈ ਹੁਇ ਚੀਤੂ ।
ਬਹੁਰ ਦੇਇ ਮਾਯਾ ਭਰਮਾਈ । ਰਿਦੈ ਕੁਤਰਕ ਅਨੇਕ ਉਠਾਈ ॥੫॥
Sometimes Baba Kalu Ji has faith in some as listening to his sons praise makes him very surprised. However the illusion known as Maya brings it into a state of confusion this causes is mind to think about many wrong things. 5.

'ਬਚਨ ਕਹਿਨ ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਲੀ ' । ਧਨ ਖਟਨੇ ਕੀ ਜਾਨਿ ਨ ਚਾਲੀ ।
ਸੁਨਿ ਸੁਨਿ ਬਚ ਨਰ ਕਰਹਿਂ ਵਡਾਈ । ਧਨ ਹਾਨੀ ਇਹ ਭੇਦ ਨ ਪਾਈ ' ॥੬॥
His father says "from the words said my son is the house of virtues but he does not know how to earn money. People are listening to the words and praise of the Guru and due to this he is gaining fame and glory but people do not understand that he is actually destroying my wealth." 6.

ਪੁਨ ਰਿਤੁ ਪਰਵਿਰਤੀ ਹੇਮੰਤਾ । ਤਿਹ ਮਹਿਂ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਜੁ ਭਾ ਵਰਤੰਤਾ ।
ਤਾਲਨ ਬਾਰਜ ਬਨੀ ਬਿਨਾਸੀ । ਜਿਉਂ ਕੁਸੰਗ ਨਾਸਹਿ ਜਸੁ ਰਾਸੀ ॥੭॥
The season known as Sardi came to a close, the poet Santokh Singh Ji is saying listen to this. Within the ponds lotus blossoms or began to die due to the cold. They are dying in the same way that a person's fame goes if they are in contact with the bad congregation. 7.

ਨਿਕਟ ਅਗਨਿ ਕੇ ਰਹਹਿਂ ਮਹਾਨਾ । ਜਿਉਂ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸੇਵਹਿਂ ਜੇ ਮਤਿਵਾਨਾ ।
ਮੰਦ ਤੇਜ ਸੂਰਜ ਕਾ ਵਯੋ । ਜ੍ਯੋਂ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਹੁਇ ਆਲਸ ਕਿਯੋ ॥੮॥
My living in the hot seasons brings happiness as if he was serving an intellectual king. The rays of the sun have become weak as if a king becomes lazy. 8.

ਨਰ ਨਾਰਿਨਿ ਕੋ ਸੀਤ ਕੰਪਾਵਤਿ । ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਬਨਬਾਸੀ ਤਿਨਹਿਂ ਦੁਖਾਵਤਿ ।
ਕਾਹੁੰ ਸਮੇਂ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਹੁਇ ਬਿਨ ਜੋਰਾ । ਜਿਉਂ ਦੁਖ ਦੇਹਿਂ ਪ੍ਰਜਾ ਕੋ ਚੋਰਾ ॥੯॥
The people of the world began to shake due to the cold even the deer living in the jungle feel this pain. It is as if a king loses his power the thieves begin to cause distress for the community. 9.

ਨਿਸ ਦੀਰਘ ਮਹਿਂ ਲੇਤਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੀ । ਸੇਵਹਿਂ ਸੀਤ ਬਿਦਾਰਿ ਸੁਖਾਲੀ ।
ਜਿਉਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਲੇ ਪਗ ਧੂਰੀ । ਭਵ ਸੰਕਟ ਸਿੱਖ ਕਰਹਹਿਂ ਦੂਰੀ ॥੧੦॥
The nights have become longer and people now use quilts when sleeping. Through this method they gain a peaceful night's rest. It is as if a devotee gains the dust from the feet of the Guru through this method they eradicate the cycle of birth and death. 10.

ਆਤਪ ਖਰੀ ਸੁਹਾਇ ਸਰੀਰਾ । ਜਿਉਂ ਸਤਿਸੰਗ ਤਿਜਨ ਮਤਿ ਧੀਰਾ ।
ਸੀਤਲ ਬਿਹਹੀ ਨੀਰ ਸਮੀਰਾ । ਜੋ ਰੰਕਨ ਕੋ ਕਰਤਿ ਅਧੀਰਾ ॥੧੧॥
The people like the call rays of the Moon in the same way that the intellectual people like the true congregation where they can worship the name of God. Both cold air in cold water causing distress to the poor people. 11.

ਜਿਉਂ ਬਿਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਰਖਵਾਰਾ । ਜਗ੍ਯਾਸੀ ਕੋ ਕਰਤਿ ਬਿਕਾਰਾ ।
ਅਸ ਹਿੰਮਤ ਰਿਤੁ ਮਹਿਂ ਜਗ ਕੰਤਾ । ਪਰੇ ਰਹਹਿਂ ਸੁਖਦਾਨੀ ਸੰਤਾ ॥੧੨॥
As if a person was without the care of the Guru then the vices cause distress to the devotee. In this season Guru Nanak Dev Ji who is doing the giver of peace remains in a sleepy state. 12.

ਕਿਸ ਸਿਉਂ ਮਿਲਹਿਂ ਨ ਬੋਲਹਿਂ ਬਾਨੀ । ਰਹਹਿਂ ਇਕਾਂਕੀ ਗੁਨ ਗਨ ਖਾਨੀ ।
ਅਸ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੋਂ ਜੁਗ ਮਾਸ ਬਿਤਾਏ । ਫਿਰਨ ਲਗੇ ਪੁਨ ਸਹਿਜ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥੧੩॥
He does not talk to anybody nor does he meets anyone. He remains alone and in this manner he past two months. After this he started to go out. 13.

ਰੁਚਿ ਸੋਂ ਖਾਨ ਪਾਨ ਕੋ ਕਰਿਹੀਂ । ਮਾਤ ਬਿਲੋਕ ਹਰਖ ਉਰ ਧਰਿਹੀ ।
ਜਾਨਤਿ ਭਈ ਅਨਾਮੰ ਤਨ ਕੋ । ਦੀਨੋ ਦਾਨ ਦਿਜਨ ਸਭਿਹਿਨਿ ਕੋ ॥੧੪॥
Suddenly Guru Nanak Dev Ji began to eat and drink as normal upon seeing this as a mother became very happy. She realised that his body had overcome its illness. Due to her happiness she gave our large amounts of goods to people as charity. 14.

ਸੁੰਦਰ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਨਵੀਨ ਬਨਾਏ । ਸੁਤ ਕੋ ਯੁਤਿ ਦੁਲਾਰ ਪਹਿਰਾਏ ।
ਬਦਨ ਸਦਨ ਛਬਿ ਪੁਨ ਦੇਖੀ । ਵਡਭਾਗਣ ਲਖਿ ਆਪ ਬਿਸ਼ੇਖੀ ॥੧੫॥
She made the new and beautiful clothes which she put on her son. Again and again the mother looks at the beautiful face of Guru Nanak and understood herself to be of great fortune. 15.

ਗ੍ਯਾਤਿਨਿ ਕੀ ਪੰਗਤਿ ਜਗ ਮੂਲਾ । ਬੈਸਹਿਂ, ਭੇ ਕਾਲੂ ਅਨਕੂਲਾ ।
ਲੌਕਿਕ ਰੀਤਿ ਮਿਲਨ ਪੁਨ ਬੋਲਨ । ਕਰਿਹੀਂ ਸਭਿ ਬਿਧਿ ਪੁਰਿ ਮਹਿਂ ਡੋਲਨ ॥੧੬॥
In accordance to his father's wishes Guru Nanak began to sit and associate with family. He began to speak to people and meet them with everybody including all the people in the village. 16.

ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸ਼ੋਭਤਿ ਬੈਸ ਕਿਸ਼ੋਰਾ । ਗਿਰਾ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੁਲ ਮਧਰੀ ਚਿਤ ਚੋਰਾ ।
ਲਲਿਤ ਬਿਲੋਚਨ ਦਲ ਉਤਪਲ ਸੇ । ਤਾਰੇ ਸ਼੍ਯਾਮ ਗੰਡਕੀ ਸਿਲ ਸੇ ॥੧੭॥
The form of the Guru was gaining great glory due to being aged between 11 and 15 years. The words of the Guru are beautiful, sweet and enchanting. The eyes of the Guru are beautiful like a blooming lotus blossom. His eyes and black and beautiful like the Stones of the Gandika River. 17.

ਸੋਰਠਾ ।
ਬਨੀ ਸੁ ਭ੍ਰਿਕੁਟੀ ਬੰਕ, ਜਿਉਂ ਕਮਾਨ ਇਹ ਕਾਮ ਕੀ ।
ਕਿਧੋਂ ਇੰਦੁ ਅਕਲੰਕ, ਸਦਨ ਤਾਸ ਮਹਿਰਾਬ ਸੀ ॥੧੮॥
Sortha -- the brows of the Guru are upturned like the bow of the demi god Kamdev. The Moon is without blemish like the brow of the Guru which is held in the sky. 18.

ਚੌਪਈ ।
ਮੰਦਮੰਦ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਗਤਿ ਚਲਿਹੀ । ਦਯਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਿ ਦੇਖਹਿਂ ਦੁਖ ਦਲਿਹੀ ।
ਨਿਜ ਇੱਛਾ ਬੇਦੀ ਕੁਲ ਕੇਤੂ । ਬਿਚਰਹਿਂ, ਕਿਰਤ ਨ ਕਰਤਿ ਨਿਕੇਤੂ ॥੧੯॥
Quatrain -- very slowly walked the Guru and through his graceful look the pain suffered by others was eradicated. The Guru is the insignia of the Bedi lineage he does as he pleases and does not do any of the house work. 19.

ਐਸੇ ਕਿੰਚਤ ਕਾਲ ਬਿਤਾਯੋ । ਜਗਤ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਹਿਤ ਜੋ ਆਯੋ ।
ਇਕ ਬਾਸੁਰ ਕਾਲੂ ਨਿਜ ਸਦਨਾ । ਬੈਸਿ ਬੁਲਾਯੋ ਬਾਰਜ ਬਦਨਾ ॥੨੦॥
In this way the Guru spent some of his time which was a small amount of time in comparison to his lifespan. One day Baba Kalu was sat in his house when he called his son who had a blossom like face. 20.

ਦਰਬ ਕਮਾਵਨ ਸਿਖਵਨ ਹੇਤੂ । ਨਿਕਟ ਬਿਸਾਯੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਕੇਤੂ ।
ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਚਿੰਤ ਮਹਿਂ ਸਾਨੀ ਬਾਨੀ । ਬੋਲ੍ਯੋ ਰੀਤ ਅਨੀਤਿ ਪਛਾਨੀ ॥੨੧॥
In order to teach him how to earn money Baba Kalu sat his son close to him. With love and care he spoke to his son as he was not earning any money. 21.

'ਸੁਤ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਤੂੰ ਏਕ ਹਮਾਰੇ । ਨਹਿਂ ਦੂਸਰ ਜੋ ਕਾਜ ਸੰਭਾਰੇ ।
ਤੁਮ ਨੈ ਤਜਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਅਸ ਰੀਤੂ । ਜਿਉਂ ਵਿਰਾਗ ਦਿਢ ਹੋਤਿ ਅਤੀਤੂ ॥੨੨॥
"Guru Nanak you are my only son so there is no other who can manage to do the work of bringing money into the house. But you have forgotten how to earn any money as if you have become a dispassionate saint." 22.

ਕਹਹੁ ਗ੍ਰਸਤ ਸਿਉਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਬਨਿ ਆਵੈ । ਨਿਸ ਬਾਸੁਰ ਬਿਨ ਕਾਮ ਬਿਤਾਵੈ ।
ਮੁਝ ਜੀਵਤਿ ਜੇ ਲੇਤਿ ਸੰਭਾਰੀ । ਹੌਂ ਜਾਨਤਿ ਸੁਤ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਸੁਖਕਾਰੀ ॥੨੩॥
"Now tell me out as a family man live in this manner? Both day and night pass without you doing any work. If you are to carry out the duties of the house whilst I am alive then I will understand that my son is the granter of peace". 23.

ਤੁਝ ਜਨਮਤਿ ਮਨ ਭਾ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ । ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਿ ਹੈ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸਾ ।
ਦਰਬ ਕਮਾਵਨ ਮੈਂ ਜਸ ਮੇਰੋ । ਜਾਨਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਪੁਰਿ ਮਾਂਹਿ ਘਨੇਰੋ ॥੨੪॥
"When you're born this desire in the increased and that my son by the name of Nanak will be well known in the world. If you are to earn well it would give me great glory and because of that everybody in the village will know me." 24.

ਜਿਮ ਰਾਂਕਾ ਕੋ ਇੰਦ ਨਿਹਾਰੀ । ਦੇਖ ਸਰਾਹਹਿਂ ਸਭਿ ਨਰ ਨਾਰੀ ।
ਰਾਹੁ ਸਰਸ ਤੂੰ ਭਾ ਘਰ ਮਾਂਹੀ । ਸਭਿ ਬਿਧਿ ਮੰਦ ਕਰਤਿ ਭਾ ਤਾਂਹੀ ॥੨੫॥
"By looking at the full moon both men and women praise the Moon. When you are born this a manner that people used to praise me however it is like there has been a lunar eclipse and due to this have eclipsed my fame. You have ruined my fame in this manner." 25.

ਏਕ ਨ ਮਤਿ ਮਨ ਬਨਜ ਕਰਨ ਕੀ । ਬਹੁਰ ਨ ਖੱਤ੍ਰੀ ਰੀਤਿ ਬਰਨ ਕੀ ।
ਹਾਰ੍ਯੋ ਅਨਿਕ ਬਿਧਿਨ ਮਤਿ ਦੇਤੂ । ਕਬਹਿ ਕਮਾਇ ਨ ਲ੍ਯਾਇ ਨਿਕੇਤੂ ॥੨੬॥
"You have no desire to do this and you do not wish to follow any of the aspects from our social caste. I have tried many ways to teach you that have now grown tired. You have never owned any money for the household." 26.

ਜਨਕ ਬਚਨ ਤੂਸ਼ਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਸੁਨੀਆ । ਜਿਉਂ ਅਡੋਲ ਬੈਠੇ ਵਡ ਮੁਨੀਆ ।
ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੀ ਕਹਿ ਗਿਰਾ ਕਠੋਰਾ । ਤੂਸ਼ਨਿ ਭਾ, ਜਿਸ ਰੋਸ ਨ ਥੋਰਾ ॥੨੭॥
Guru Nanak Dev Ji quietly listened to his father and remain silent like a meditating holy man. Baba Kalu Ji continued to say harsh words to his son however he just remained silent and did not get angry. 27.

ਘਟਿਕਾ ਯੁਗਲ ਬਿਤੀਤੀ ਜਬਹੀ । ਤਪਤ ਰਿਦਾ ਸੀਤਲ ਭਾ ਤਬ ਹੀ ।
ਬਹੁਰੋ ਬੋਲੇ ਬੋਲ ਅਮੋਲਾ । ਜਨੁ ਕਾਲੂ ਸੁਖ ਕੁਲਫਹਿ ਖੋਲਾ ॥੨੮॥
Went to Gharis had passed and the Guru remained silent at that point the heated heart of his father had cooled. Then Guru Nanak Dev Ji said some priceless words which opened the lock to the blissful room within Baba Kalu Ji. 28.

'ਬਖਸ਼ ਖਤਾ ਪਿਤ ! ਪਾਛਲ ਕੇਰੀ । ਨਹੀਂ ਬਿਗਾਰੋਂ ਕਾਰਜ ਫੇਰੀ ।
ਜਿਉਂ ਰਾਵਰ ਕੀ ਹੋਇ ਰਜਾਈ । ਤਿਉਂ ਮੈਂ ਕਰਿਹੋਂ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਈ ॥੨੯॥
Guru Nanak Dev Ji said "my father my initial fault please forgive me for it. From now on I will not ruin any of your homely duties. Whatever is your wish will do so with love and devotion." 29.

ਉਚਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਕੇ ਮੋ ਕੋ ਜੋਊ । ਅਬ ਕਹੀਏ ਕਰਿਹੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਸੋਊ ' ।
ਮ੍ਰਿਦੁਲ ਮਧੁਰ ਨੰਮ੍ਰੀ ਸੁਨਿ ਬਾਨੀ । ਭੀ ਕਾਲੂ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਸੁਖਦਾਨੀ ॥੩੦॥
"Whatever is my duty I will do so." The words of Guru Nanak were sweet soft and humble. By hearing these Baba Kalu’s heart and mind cooled. 30.

ਜਾਨਿ ਆਪਨੇ ਸੁਤ ਅਨੁਸਾਰੀ । ਧਨ ਖਾਟਨ ਕੀ ਗਿਰਾ ਉਚਾਰੀ ।
'ਸੁਨ ਸੁਤ ਪੂਰਬ ਭਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਖਿ ਕਾਰੀ । ਪਸੁ ਚਰਾਇ ਸੋ ਦੀਨਿ ਉਜਾਰੀ ॥੩੧॥
You realise that his son was now under his will and due to this started speaking about earning wealth. "Listen son you initially been farming you were told to look after the cattle by doing this you ruined the fields". 31.

ਮੁਝ ਮਨ ਮੈਂ, ਥੀ ਐਸ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ । ਦਿਉਂ ਬਸਾਇ ਇਕ ਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਨਿਰਾਰਾ ।
ਸੋ ਤੋ ਰਹੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਮੇਰੇ । ਪੰਗ ਤਕਹਿ ਜਿਉਂ ਗਿਹ ਸਿਰ ਹੇਰੇ ॥੩੨॥
"In my mind I had one desire that if you were to make money from farming I would have bought you a separate village of your own. However the those thoughts are now diminished as if a person desired to see the peak of the mountain but has settled just a glimpse of the mountain from distance." 32.

ਮੁਝ ਤੇ ਬੀਸ ਕਾਰਖਿਕ ਲੀਜੈ । ਆਨ ਸਥਾਨ ਪਯਾਨੋ ਕੀਜੈ ।
ਹੇਰਿ ਲਾਭਦਾ ਵਸਤੁ ਵਿਚਾਰੀ । ਬਨਜਹੁ ਨਿਜ ਮਤਿ ਕੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰੀ ॥੩੩॥
"Now son take this 20 rupees from me and go to another city find a valuable object and purchase it if you believe it to be of value." 33.

ਅਬ ਕੇ ਜੇ ਆਨਹੁ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਸੌਦਾ । ਪੁਨ ਬਹੁ ਧਨ ਦਿਉਂ ਉਰ ਭਰਿ ਮੋਦਾ ।
ਨਿਜ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਤੁਮ ਰਖਹੁ ਨਿਰਾਲੀ । ਕਰਹੁ ਬਨਜ ਇਹ ਰੀਤਿ ਸੁਖਾਲੀ ॥੩੪॥
"If you are to purchase a good bargain and we are later to sell it for a profit I will be very pleased with you and will share the proceeds of the profit with you. If you are to start this business venture then I will allow you to keep your profits separate from mine. This is an easy way of doing business." 34.

ਦਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਦਰਬ ਬਧਾਵਹੁ ਭਾਰੀ । ਬਹੁਰ ਸਪੂਤ ਕਹਹਿਂ ਨਰ ਨਾਰੀ ।
ਬਾਲਾ ਲੇਹੁ ਦੂਸਰਾ ਸੰਗਾ । ਸੁਤ ! ਜਾਵਹੁ ਅਬ ਸਹਿਤ ਉਮੰਗਾ ' ॥੩੫॥
"In this way increase your wealth than the female folk from the village will say that the son of Baba Kalu is very great. Take with you Bhai Bala and go with great ambition." 35.

ਕਹਿ ਬਾਲਾ ਸੁਨਿ ਗੁਰ ! ਦੁਖ ਕਦਨੰ । ਦਾਸ ਪਠਾਯੋ ਤਬ ਮੁਝ ਸਦਨੰ ।
ਗਯੋ ਸੰਗ ਮੈਂ, ਤਿਹ ਅਸਥਾਨੰ । ਜਹਿਂ ਕਾਲੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਗਤਿਦਾਨੰ ॥੩੬॥
Bhai Bala Ji said, "O eradicator of pain Guru Angad Dev Ji listen to this, Baba Kalu Ji sent one of his servants to my house and I went along with him to where Baba Kalu and the Guru Nanak Dev Ji were sitting." 36.

ਮੁਝ ਕੋ ਸਾਦਰ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਬਿਠਾਯੰ । ਹਿਤ ਭੇਜਨ ਕੇ ਬਚਨ ਅਲਾਯੰ ।
'ਸੁਨਿ ਬਾਲੇ ! ਤੂੰ ਹੈਂ ਮਤਿਵਾਨੰ । ਕੀਜੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਗ ਪਯਾਨੰ ॥੩੭॥
With great respect they sat me down and in order to send me with Guru Nanak Dev Ji he said the following, "Bala you are one who understands and have a superior intellect so go with my son Nanak." 37.

ਹੋਇ ਲਾਭਦਾ ਸੌਦਾ ਜੋਊ । ਲੇਹੁ ਸੰਭਾਰ ਆਨਿਯੇ ਸੋਊ ' ।
ਅਸ ਕਹਿ ਬੀਸ ਰਜਤਪਣ ਦੀਨੇ । ਭਲਿ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੋਂ, ਮੁਝ ਸੌਂਪਨ ਕੀਨੇ ॥੩੮॥
"In whichever item you believe to be a bargain and great care bring it back home". After saying this Baba Kalu Ji gave 20 rupees. He gave the money to me and told me to take care of it. 38.

ਭਾ ਤਯਾਰ ਮੈਂ ਮਾਨ ਨਿਦੇਸਾ । ਚਲੇ ਮੁਕੰਦ ਜਿ ਕਟਤਿ ਕਲੇਸ਼ਾ ।
ਚਾਰੁ ਪਟੰਬਰ ਕੀ ਇਕਲਾਈ । ਸੋ ਲੀਨੀ ਮੈਂ ਕੰਧ ਉਚਾਈ ॥੩੯॥
After seeking permission from Baba Kalu Ji I got ready to go with Guru Nanak Dev Ji who is to dispel the pain of the world. I took with me a large cloth which I draped over my shoulder. 39.

ਵਹਿਰ ਨਗਰ ਤੇ ਕੇਤਿਕ ਦੂਰੀ । ਕਾਲੂ ਦੇ ਤਹਿਂ ਸਿਖਵਨ ਭੂਰੀ ।
ਬਹੁਰ ਹਟ੍ਯੋ ਕਰਿ ਮੋਹ ਘਨੇਰਾ । ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਪਾਛਲ ਦਿਸਿ ਹੇਰਾ ॥੪੦॥
We walked some distance from the village and during this time I was taught some great teaching by Baba Kalu Ji. At this point he returned back to the village but even on his way back he kept on looking around to see his son. 40.

ਮੰਦ ਮੰਦ ਪਗ ਧਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਮੰਦਰ । ਚਲਤਿ ਪੰਥ ਭਾਖਤਿ ਬਚ ਸੁੰਦਰ ।
ਭਗਤਿ ਵਿਰਾਗ ਗ੍ਯਾਨ ਗੁਨ ਸਾਨੀ । ਮੁਝ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਨ ਕਹਿਤਿ ਕਹਾਨੀ ॥੪੧॥
The house of virtues Guru Nanak Dev Ji walked slowly and whilst on Route was uttering some beautiful words. The sermon was full of details to do with meditation, dispassionate and knowledge which were being provided to me. 41.

ਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਨਗਰ ਮਾਰਗ ਮਹਿਂ ਜੇਤੇ । ਸਹਜਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਉਲਂਘੇ ਸਭਿ ਤੇਤੇ ।
ਚਲਤਿ ਚਲਤਿ ਆਯੋ ਇਕ ਕਾਨਨ । ਤਾਂਹਿ ਬਿਲੋਕਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕਮਲਾਨਨ ॥੪੨॥
All the small villages and the large ones were passed through during the walk. Whilst walking the pair came to a jungle and at this point Guru Nanak Dev Ji started to look in this direction. 42.

ਸੁੰਦਰ ਆਸ਼੍ਰਮ ਏਕ ਨਿਹਾਰੀ । ਜਹਿਂ ਤਪੀਸ਼ ਤਪ ਤਾਪਹਿਂ ਭਾਰੀ ।
ਕਿਹਿ ਆਸਨ ਕਿਯ ਊਰਧ ਬਾਹੂ । ਬਿਟਪਨ ਲਟਕਤਿ ਕੋ ਉਲਟਾਹੂ ॥੪੩॥
He saw a very beautiful ashram where there were a large number of people meditating on the name of God. Some people were meditating with their arms in the air and some people were hanging from trees while meditating. 43.

ਏਕ ਚਰਨ ਪਰ ਕੋ ਇਕ ਠਾਂਢੇ । ਸੁਖ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਜਿਨਹਿਂ ਰਚਿ ਬਾਢੇ ।
ਕਾਹੁੰ ਸਿਧਾਸਨ, ਕੋ ਪਦਮਾਸਨ । ਬਾਰਿਪਨ ਕੋ ਰਹਤਿ ਬਿਨਾਸਨ ॥੪੪॥
Some people were standing on just one leg whilst meditating; all of these people had gained bliss from mentally reaching the next world. Some people were sitting in a Sidh position and others were sitting in a Padam position. Some of them were drinking water and remain without food. 44.

ਸ੍ਵੇਤ ਰੰਗ ਲਾਗੀ ਭਸਮੰਗਾ । ਜਟ ਸੀਸ ਜਿਨ ਧੂਸਰ ਰੰਗਾ ।
ਕਿਨ ਬਲਕਲ ਲਿਯ, ਕੋ ਅੰਗ ਨੰਗਾ । ਅਗਨਿ ਉਸ਼ਨ ਸੋਂ ਕੋਇ ਉਮੰਗਾ ॥੪੫॥
All of their limbs are white in colour due to being smeared with Ashes along with their long matted hair. Some of them are naked whilst others are covered by leaves.
Some of the people are sat close to a fire enjoying its warmth. 45.

ਕੋ ਬੈਠਹਿ ਜਲ ਕੰਠ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਨਾ । ਸਿਮਰ ਇਕਾਕੀ ਕੋ ਭਗਵਾਨਾ ।
ਕੋ ਠਾਂਢੋ ਦਿਨ ਰੈਨ ਬਿਤਾਵੈ । ਕੋ ਮੋਨੀ ਨਹਿਂ ਬਚਨ ਅਲਾਵੈ ॥੪੬॥
Some of them are sat in water up to their neck whilst others are sitting alone meditating on the name of God. Some people have stood in a stationary position whilst others do not talk to anyone. 46.

ਕੋ ਨਿਜ ਬ੍ਰਿੱਤ ਨਿਰੋਧਨ ਕਰਿਹੀ । ਸੁਖ ਜੁ ਸੁਰਗ ਤ੍ਰਿਨ ਸਮ ਪਰਿਹਰਿਹੀ ।
ਕੋ ਮਿਲ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਰਸਾਲਾ । ਪਢਹਿ ਸੁਨਹਿ ਧਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਿਸਾਲਾ ॥੪੭॥
Others are suppressing their minds thoughts and they have given up all worldly pleasures. Some of the holy man are discussing the unity of God with great love. 47.

ਸਭਿ ਕੋ ਇਕ ਮਹੰਤ, ਸੋ ਕੈਸਾ ? । ਮਹਨੁਂ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਧਾਰਿ ਤਪ ਬੈਸਾ ।
ਤਰੁਤ੍ਵਕ ਕੀ ਕਟਿ ਕੀਨਿ ਕੁਪੀਨਾ । ਮ੍ਰਿਗਛਾਲਾ ਪਰ ਆਸਨ ਕੀਨਾ ॥੪੮॥
There was one Mahant and what was he like? He was sat there doing his austerities whilst his genital region was covered using the materials from a tree. He was sat on a deerskin. 48.

ਭਾਰੀ ਜਟਾਮੁਕਟ ਜਿਹ ਸੀਸਾ । ਬੈਠ੍ਯੋ ਰਿਦੈ ਭਜਤਿ ਜਗਦੀਸ਼ਾ ।
ਤਿਨਹਿਂ ਬਿਲੋਕ ਠਾਂਢਿ ਹੁਇ ਰਹੇ । ਮੁਝ ਸੋਂ ਅਸ ਬਚ ਕੋਮਲ ਕਹੇ ॥੪੯॥
He had long matted hair which was tied as if it was a crown and he was meditating on the name of God. The Guru was watching him whilst stood stationary, seeing this he said the following. 49.

'ਬਨਜ ਭਲੋ ਹਮ ਇਹ ਠਾਂ ਪਾਯੋ । ਯਾ ਕੋ ਤਜਿਨੋ ਮਨ ਨਹਿਂ ਭਾਯੋ ।
ਪਾਇ ਅਮੋਲ ਜੁ ਮਗ ਮਹਿ ਹੀਰਾ । ਫਟਕ ਨ ਬਨਜਹਿਂ ਜੇ ਮਤਿ ਧੀਰਾ ॥੫੦॥
"Bala we have been searching but now I have found the true acquisition. To not serve these holy men I do not deem correct. It is as if a person is walking and en route finds a fake jewel than an intellectual person will always test to see if there is
genuine." 50.

ਖੋਜਤਿ ਮੁਧ ਪਯੂਖ ਕਰ ਆਈ । ਜੋ ਜਨਾਹਿਂ ਨਿਜ ਭਾਗ ਭਲਾਈ ।
ਬਹੁਰ ਪਿਤਾ ਕੀ ਆਗ੍ਯਾ ਜੋਊ । ਭਲੋ ਬਨਜ ਕਰਨੇ ਕੀ ਸੋਊ ॥੫੧॥
"If an individual is searching for honey and comes across the Ambrosio nectar than they consider themselves to be fortunate. This is what my father told me to do that one should find a true bargain will acquisition." 51.

ਯਾਂ ਤੇ ਬਨਜ ਲਾਭਦਾ ਔਰ ਨ । ਫਿਰ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਜੇ ਸਭਿ ਹੀ ਠੌਰਨ ।
ਏਹ ਰਜਤਪਨ ਇਨਹਿ ਚਢਾਵਹਿਂ । ਅਸਨ ਬਸਨ ਤੇ ਲੇ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹਿਂ ' ॥੫੨॥
"I can not find a better bargain than this and even if we are to walk everywhere we will not find one. We should give this 20 rupees to these holy man so that they can purchase clothing and food." 52.

ਅਸ ਸੁਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਚ ਬੇਦੀ ਬਰ ਕੇ । ਮੈਂ ਬੋਲ੍ਯੋ ਕਾਲੂ ਦਿਸ਼ ਡਰਿ ਕੇ ।
'ਬਨਕਨ ਜਿਉਂ ਬਨਜਨ ਧਨ ਹੇਤੂ । ਤੁਮ ਕੋ ਭੇਜ੍ਯੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਕੇਤੂ ! ॥੫੩॥
After listening to the words of Guru Nanak I spoke out of fear of Baba Kalu Ji, "Nanak we have been sent as traders to earn a profit." 53.

ਪੁਨ, ਤੁਮ ਜਨਕਹਿ ਕਠਿਨ ਸੁਭਾਊ । ਗੁਨਹੁ ਆਪ, ਮੁਝ ਦੋਸ਼ੁ ਨ ਕਾਊ ।
ਪਿਤਾ ਪੁੱਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਨਿਬੇਰੋ । ਮੈਂ, ਹੋ ਦਾਸ ਨ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੁ ਝੇਰੋ ' ॥੫੪॥
"Your father is somebody who gets angry very quickly so think about this very carefully as I do not want to get in trouble. He is your father and you are his son and this is an issue between the pair of you. I your servant and I will not argue with you." 54.

ਜਿਉਂ ਮਨ ਆਇ ਕਰਹੁ ਤਿਉਂ ਕਾਰਾ । ਹੌਂ ਤੌਂ ਨਿਤ ਰਾਵਰਿ ਅਨੁਸਾਰਾ ।
ਖੇਲਤਿ ਜਬੈ ਬਾਲਕਨਿ ਮਾਂਹੀ । ਤਬ ਹੀ ਸੰਗ ਤਜ੍ਯੋ ਮੈਂ ਨਾਂਹੀ ॥੫੫॥
"Whatever you to believe to be correct I urge you to go ahead and do that. I am your servant and will do as you request. When we were little we used to play together and even then I did not abandon you." 55.

ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ ਮੁਝ ਕੋ ਦੇਤਿ ਰਜਾਈ । ਤਿਉਂ ਤਿਉਂ ਕਰਉਂ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਈ ।
ਕਰਨੋਚਿਤ, ਕਰੀਏ ਗੁਨ ਉਰ ਮੈਂ ' । ਅਸ ਕਹਿ ਮੈਂ ਦੀਨੋ ਧਨ ਕਰ ਮੈਂ ॥੫੬॥
"Whatever you commanded me to do I followed and did so with happiness. Whatever you believe to be correct you do!" After saying this I handed the money over to Guru Nanak Dev Ji. 56.

ਕਰ ਮਹਿਂ ਲੇਯ ਕਾਰਖਿਕ ਤਬ ਹੀ । ਗਏ ਮਹੰਤ ਸੰਤ ਜਹਿਂ ਸਭਿ ਹੀ ।
ਕਰ ਬੰਦਨ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਢਿਗ ਬੈਸੇ । ਕੁੰਭਜ ਨਿਕਟ ਰਘੂਤਮ ਜੈਸੇ ॥੫੭॥
The Guru took the money into his hands and went and sat with the Mahant known as Santren in the ashram. We were folded our hands and bowed to him after which we sat down. The poet Santokh Singh Ji says it is similar to when Sri Ram Chandar paid his respects to Agsat Muni. 57.

ਮ੍ਰਿਦੁਲ ਮਧੁਰ ਕਰੁਨਾ ਸੰਗ ਸਾਨੀ । ਬੋਲੇ ਪਰਮ ਮਨੋਹਰ ਬਾਨੀ ।
'ਨਗਨ ਅੰਗ ਦਿਨ ਰੈਨ ਬਿਤਾਵਤਿ । ਪਹਿਰਤਿ ਨਹੀਂ, ਕਿ ਹਾਥ ਨ ਆਵਤਿ ? ॥੫੮॥
Guru Nanak Dev Ji said with his sweet and graceful voice, "O great being day and night you meditate whilst naked do you not wear clothes or do you not have any?" 58.

ਇਸ ਰਿਤੁ ਮਹਿਂ, ਤਨ ਸੀਤ ਸੰਤਾਵਤਿ । ਬਹੁਰੋ ਬਰਖਾ ਉਸਨ ਤਪਾਵਤਿ ।
ਅਚਵਹੁ ਅਸਨ, ਕਿ ਰਹਹੁ ਅਨਸਨਾ ? । ਦੇਤਿ ਖੇਦ ਤਨ ਜਿਉਂ ਬਿਨ ਬਸਨਾ ॥੫੯॥
"The season is now harsh which affects the body in the rain you feel cold and in the heat you feel hot. Do you eat food would you live without it like you do with the clothing?" 59.

ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਾਨ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸਰਬੰਗਾ । ਭਸਮ ਸੰਗ ਸੋਂ ਕੀਨਿ ਕੁਰੰਗਾ ।
ਸੰਤ ਰੂਪ ਮਤਿ ਭਲੋ ਉਤੰਗਾ । ਉੱਤਰ ਦੀਜੈ ਸੰਗ ਉਮੰਗਾ ' ॥੬੦॥
"You have great limbs which you have covered with Ashes. You seem to be a great
saint and a demeanour shows you to be great. Please answer these questions for me." 60.

ਰਿਖੀਕੇਸ਼ ਸੁਨਿ ਬੋਲ੍ਯੋ ਬਾਨੀ । ਮੁਕਤਿ ਜੁ ਮਾਰਗ ਤਾ ਰਸ ਸਾਨੀ ।
'ਸਾਧ ਬੇਖ ਜਿਨ ਧਰ੍ਯੋ ਸਰੀਰਾ । ਤਾਂ ਕੋ ਚਹੀਅਤਿ ਸੰਜਮ ਚੀਰਾ ॥੬੧॥
Hearing this, the leader of the holy man said the following, "the guise of a saint and I have adopted within this these are the type of clothes that we were." 61.

ਬਹੁਰ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਭੋਜਨ ਕੀ ਰੀਤੀ । ਜੇ ਹਮ ਜਾਚਹਿਂ ਹੋਤਿ ਅਨੀਤੀ ।
ਸਿੰਘਾਸਨ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ । ਤਾਂਪਰ ਬੈਸ ਪਰਮ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਾ ॥੬੨॥
“ Next you asked about our food, if we are to go begging food this looks very bad as it shows we are still yearning for food. We are sat on the throne of content and eat what is given and on this throne we are happy." 62.

ਪਰਾਲਬਧ ਸੋਂ ਦਾਸ ਹਮਾਰੀ । ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਹਿਂ ਅਨੇਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੀ ।
ਸੁਭਟ ਸੰਗ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਤਪ ਤਾਪਨ । ਮੋਹ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਨਾ ਖਾਪਨ ' ॥੬੩॥
"We gain according to our previous karma and this is what is serving yesterday. Through our austerities we have gained a large army i.e. content, knowledge, piety, mercy, etc. In this way we defeat the arming of attachment." 63.

ਸਤਿ ਕੋ ਛਤਰ ਸੀਸ ਪਰ ਝੂਲੰ । ਜਾਸ ਬਿਲੋਕ ਦਬਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਕੂਲੰ ।
ਅਬਚਲ ਜਬ ਕੋ ਅਸ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਯੰ । ਅਨਤ ਨ ਤਬ ਕੋ ਮਨ ਬਿਰਮਾਯੰ ' ॥੬੪॥
"Then the canopy of truth is above us, and by seeing this canopy and our glory our enemies are defeated. Since we have started to gain this bliss our mind is not yet enchanted by anything else." 64.

ਸੰਤ ਉਕਤਿ ਕੀ ਸੁਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਜੁਗਤੰ । ਹਰਖਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਚ ਨੁਕਤੰ ।
'ਰਾਵਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਨਨ ਅਭਿਲਾਖਾ । ਤੁਮ ਹੋ ਧੰਨ ਧਰਮ ਦਿਢਰਾਖਾ ॥੬੫॥
Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji heard the words of the Mahant and was very pleased. After hearing this he said, "I desire to know your name as your blessed and have stood firm on your religion." 65.

ਕਿਯ ਆਸਾ ਇਕ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੰ । ਪਰਬ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਤਜਿ, ਨਿਰਬ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਪਗ ਧਾਰੰ ।
ਸੁਮਤਿ ਅਗਾਤੀ ਸੰਤ ਸੁਚਾਲੀ । ਸ਼ਾਂਤਿ ਲਤਾ ਭਲਿ ਬਿਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੀ ' ॥੬੬॥
"You have given up everything and have taken shelter of the one God. You have given up the world and have adopted the ways of the saints. You have a great intellect and have adopted a great way you are a great saint. You are propagated the plant of peace." 66.

ਪੁਨ ਭਾਖਤਿ ਮਹੰਤ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਬਾਨੀ । 'ਭੋ ਧੀਮਤਿ ਤੁਮ ਹੋ ਗੁਨ ਖਾਨੀ ! ।
ਬੈਸ ਕਿਸ਼ੋਰ ਬਿਖੈ ਅਪਮਾਨੀ । ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਰ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਲੁਭਾਨੀ ॥੬੭॥
Then the Mahant said, "oh intellectual male you are the treasure house of all virtues in such a short page you have already discarded the bad deeds. You already desire to be one of the true congregation." 67.

ਸੰਤਰੇਨ ਹੈ ਨਾਮ ਹਮਾਰਾ । ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਬਚ ਸੋਂ ਧਰ੍ਯੋ ਸੁਧਾਰਾ ।
ਦੀਨ ਗਰੀਬੀ ਕੋ ਸਿਰੁਪਾਉ । ਸੁਜਸ ਜਾਸੁ ਬਹੁ ਵਧਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਊ ' ॥੬੮॥
"My name is Santren and my spiritual master chose this name for me. My spiritual master gave me a turban of humility as respect to which my fame and meditation has increased." 68.

ਰਿਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੀਦੇ ਸੁਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਨਾਮੂ । ਜਿਉਂ ਕਵਿ ਉਕਤਿ ਸੁਨਤਿ ਮਤਿਧਾਮੂ ।
ਮੁਝ ਸੋਂ ਕਹਿਨ ਲਗੇ ਤਿਹ ਕਾਲਾ । 'ਤਜ੍ਯੋ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਬਨਜ ਇਹ, ਬਾਲਾ ! ' ॥੬੯॥
Hearing the name of the saint Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was very pleased as if he had heard an intellectual reciting poetry. At that point Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji said to me, "Bala Ji, I cannot do this acquisition." 69.

ਕਰ ਤੇ ਧਨ ਧਰਿ ਅੱਗ੍ਰ ਮਹੰਤਾ । 'ਅਸਨ ਕਰਾਵਹੁ' ਕਹਿਂ ਜਗਕੰਤਾ ।
'ਹਮ ਨੈ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਸਭਿ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਨੀ । ਕਰਤਿ ਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ, ਗੁਨਹਾਨੀ ॥੭੦॥
Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji then with his hands placed the money in front of the Mahant and said, "we should feed all of these holy men food. I have understood their ways that they do not beg for anything as they do not see it as acceptable." 70.

ਬਿਨ ਜਾਚੇ ਸਾਦਰ ਜੋ ਦੇਈ । ਤਾਂ ਕੋ ਰੁਚਿ ਸੋਂ ਅਚਨ ਕਰੇਈ ।
ਅਬਹਿ ਪਠਾਏ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕਰਤਾਰਾ । ਲੇ ਕਰਿ ਸੁਖ ਸੋਂ ਕਰਹੁ ਅਹਾਰਾ ' ॥੭੧॥
"If someone is to give you something without asking for it then you are to eat it with love and devotion. Now God has sent this food for, you so eat it happily." 71.

ਕਹਿ ਮਹੰਤ 'ਲਘੁ ਬੈਸ ਕੁਲੀਨੰ । ਤਵ ਬਿਵਹਾਰੰ ਜਨਕ ਅਧੀਨੰ ।
ਪਠ੍ਯੋ ਕਾਜ ਕਿਹ ਤੋਹਿ ਵਿਚਾਰੀ । ਜਾਹੁ ਛੂਛ ਤੌ ਦੇਹਿ ਨਿਕਾਰੀ ' ॥੭੨॥
The Mahant said, "you're of a young age but your mannerisms seem exceptional. It seems that you are doing what your father has told you to do. Your father has actually sent you to do something with this money and if you want to go home with nothing then your father will be very angry with you and will kick you out the house." 72.

'ਸੁਨਹੁ ਸੰਤ ! ਮੈਂ ਪਿਤਾ ਨਿਦੇਸਾ । ਸੋ ਕੀਨੋ ਜਿਸ ਲਾਭ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸਾ ।
ਮੁਝ ਸੋਂ ਕਹ੍ਯੋ ਬਨਜ ਸੋ ਕਰੀਏ । ਯਾਂ ਤੇ ਅਨਤ ਨ ਭਲੋ ਬਿਚਰੀਏ ' ॥੭੩॥
Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji replied, "O holy man at my father's permission I am doing what he requested and investing in something not find the value. My father told me to do something that will be of benefit." 73.

ਬਾਨੀ ਸੁਨੀ ਸੁ ਧੀਰ ਮਹੰਤਾ । ਕਹ੍ਯੋ 'ਜਿ ਤਵ ਉਰ ਇਹ ਦਿਢ ਮੰਤਾ ।
ਲੇ ਜਾਵਹੁ ਧਨ ਨਿਜ ਕਿਹ ਨਗਰੀ । ਭੋਜਨ ਸੌਜ ਆਨਿ ਦਿਹੁ ਸਗਰੀ ' ॥੭੪॥
The Mahant listened to the soothing words of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and said, "if this is your final decision then take this money to a city and buy some food for us and bring back." 74.

ਸੁਨੇ ਸ਼੍ਰਵਨ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੇ ਬੈਨਾ । ਨਗਰ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਗਮਨੇ ਗੁਨ ਐਨਾ ।
ਲੇ ਬਿਪਨੀ ਤੇ ਚੂਨ ਮਹੀਨਾ । ਤਿਹ ਹਿਤ ਪੰਚ ਰਜਤਪਨ ਦੀਨਾ ॥੭੫॥
When Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji had the words of the Mahant he started to walk towards the city. From here he acquired some flour for the price of five rupees. 75.

ਸੂਖਮ ਚਾਵਰ ਚਾਰੁ ਲੰਮੇਰੇ । ਤਿਹ ਸਮ ਲੇ ਕਰਿ ਭਾਰ ਬੰਧੇਰੇ ।
ਲੀਨ ਤੀਨ ਕੋ ਘਿੱਤ ਨਵੀਨਾ । ਸਿਤਾ ਸ੍ਵੇਤ ਤਾਂਕੇ ਸਮ ਲੀਨਾ ॥੭੬॥
He also purchased some fine long rice for another five rupees. For another three rupees he purchased some clarified butter. For another three rupees he purchased some white sugar. 76.

ਦੁਗਧ ਹੇਤ ਖਰਚੇ ਪੁਨ ਤੀਨੋ । ਬਾਕੀ ਭਾਰਬਾਹ ਕੋ ਦੀਨੋ ।
ਸਭਿਹਿ ਸੌਜ ਪੁਰਿ ਤੇ ਉਚਵਾਈ । ਸੰਤਨ ਢਿਗ ਗਮਨੇ ਜਗਰਾਈ ॥੭੭॥
With another three rupees he purchased some milk and then gave the rest of the money to a man with a cart. Then the king of the world Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji took all of this to the holy men in the jungle. 77.

ਸਭਿ ਸੰਭਾਰ ਮਹੰਤ ਅਗਾਰੀ । ਧਰਿ ਬੈਸੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਸੁਖਕਾਰੀ ।
'ਦੀਜੈ ਆਇਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਰਸੋਈ । ਅਚਹਿਂ ਸੰਤ ਰੁਚਿ ਕਰਹਿਂ ਜਿਤੋਈ ' ॥੭੮॥
Taking care of everything he placed it all in front of the Mahant. Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji is the carer of all of his devotees. Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji then said, "please let us prepare the kitchen so that your saints can eat as much as their desire." 78.

ਸੋਰਠਾ ।
ਸੁਨਿ ਮਹੰਤ ਮਤਿਵੰਤਿ, ਕਹੀ ਗਿਰਾ ਜਗਕੰਤ ਸੋਂ ।
'ਕਰਿ ਅਚਵਹਿਂਗੇ ਸੰਤ, ਤੁਮ ਗਮਨਹੁ ਪੁਰਿ ਆਪਨੇ ' ॥੭੯॥
Sortha -- the Mahant hearing the words of the king of the world Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji said, "our saints will make their food with their own hands you should go back to your village." 79.

ਦੋਹਰਾ ।
ਤਜਿ ਕਾਨਨ ਕਮਲਾਨਨੰ, ਗਵਨੇ ਨਿਜ ਪੁਰਿ ੳਰ ।
ਕਵਿ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੰਦਨਾ, ਧਰ ਪਰ ਜੁਗ ਕਰ ਜੋਰਿ ॥੮੦॥
Couplet -- then Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji who had a Lotus complexion left the jungle towards his village. Bhai Santokh Singh Ji is bowing to the feet of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji with his hands clasped on the ground. 80.

ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਗ੍ਰੰਥੇ ਪੂਰਬਾਰਧੇ 'ਤਪਸੀਅਨ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਗ' ਬਰਨਨੰ ਨਾਮ ਚਤੁਰ ਦਸਮੋ ਧ੍ਯਾਇ ॥੧੪॥
The fourteenth Adhyai of the Sri Nanak Parkash Granth (Poorbarad) which is the meditating holy men has now been completed.

Below is the fourth shabad uttered by Sri Guru Nanak DEv Ji in the thirteenth Adhyai of the Sri Nanak Parkash Granth. This is an english translation of the Shabad found in the Steek 'Gagar Cho Sagar' by Mahant Surjit Singh Ji Sevapanthi.

ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੧ ॥ ਵੈਦੁ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਵੈਦਗੀ ਪਕੜਿ ਢੰਢੋਲੇ ਬਾਂਹ ॥ ਭੋਲਾ ਵੈਦੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਕਰਕ ਕਲੇਜੇ ਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥

ਮਃ ੨ ॥ ਵੈਦਾ ਵੈਦੁ ਸੁਵੈਦੁ ਤੂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਰੋਗੁ ਪਛਾਣੁ ॥ ਐਸਾ ਦਾਰੂ ਲੋੜਿ ਲਹੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਵੰਞੈ ਰੋਗਾ ਘਾਣਿ ॥ ਜਿਤੁ ਦਾਰੂ ਰੋਗ ਉਠਿਅਹਿ ਤਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਵਸੈ ਆਇ ॥ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਵਾਇਹਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਵੈਦੁ ਸਦਾਇ ॥੨॥

Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji is giving the doctor Hardas a divine sermon.

ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੧ ॥
This stanza is uttered by Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਵੈਦੁ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਵੈਦਗੀ ਪਕੜਿ ਢੰਢੋਲੇ ਬਾਂਹ ॥
Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji is saying, "The doctor has been called in order to diagnose me. He has grabbed both of my arms and is holding the veins down in order to see what is happening."

ਭੋਲਾ ਵੈਦੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਕਰਕ ਕਲੇਜੇ ਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
The poor doctor does not know that illness is given through God via the mind concept. 1.

ਮਃ ੨ ॥
This stanza is uttered by Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji

ਵੈਦਾ ਵੈਦੁ ਸੁਵੈਦੁ ਤੂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਰੋਗੁ ਪਛਾਣੁ
O physician at all the physicians you are the greatest if you are able to say what an illness is before seeing it?

ਐਸਾ ਦਾਰੂ ਲੋੜਿ ਲਹੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਵੰਞੈ ਰੋਗਾ ਘਾਣਿ ॥
The person is only afflicted by illness through the will of the Lord and for this you are looking for a cure so that the illness will disappear. The illness of separation is found in every vein.

ਜਿਤੁ ਦਾਰੂ ਰੋਗ ਉਠਿਅਹਿ ਤਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਵਸੈ ਆਇ ॥
With such medicine all afflictions disappear and the person finds peace.

ਰੋਗੁ ਗਵਾਇਹਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਵੈਦੁ ਸਦਾਇ ॥੨॥
You yourself are ill initially if you are able to diagnose your own illness then only after that can you call yourself a physician. 2.

Sri Nanak Parkash - Post 103

Below is the complete thirteenth Adhyai of the Sri Nanak Parkash by Kavi Santokh Singh Ji where once again Maharaj utters beautiful Gurbani which is in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji eternally for all to recall.

Adhyai 13.

ਦੋਹਰਾ ।
ਬੰਦੋ ਪਦ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਸਾਰਦਾ ਉਤਪਲ ਦਲ ਦੁਤਿ ਨੈਨ ।
ਉਰ ਦਾ ਸਰਿਤਾ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਕੀ ਬੀਚੀ ਜਿਹ ਬਰ ਬੈਨ ॥੧॥
Couplet – (Kavi Santokh Singh Ji is making an invocation) I fold both of my hands and prostrate at the feet of Saraswati who is the goddess of knowledge. She has eyes like lotus blossoms and the knowledge she gives blossoms like a flower. You remain unattached to the world and are in the waves of Gurbani. 1.

ਚੌਪਈ ।
ਪਾਵਸ ਕਰਤਿ ਬਿਲਾਸ ਬਿਤਾਈ । ਬਹੁਰ ਨਵੀਨ ਅਪਰ ਰਿਤੁ ਆਈ ।
ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸ਼ਰਦ ਸਾਰਦਾ ਮਾਨੋ । ਬਦਨ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਬਿਮਲ ਪਛਾਨੋ ॥੨॥
Bhai Bala Ji says-
Quatrain – Then the next season commenced of Sarad which is the goddess of knowledge. This season is as unblemished as the moon. 2.

ਅੰਬਰ ਬਰ ਨੀਲਾਂਬਰ ਲੀਨਾ । ਜਾਂ ਕੇ ਸ਼ੁਭਤਿ ਪਯੋਧਰ ਪੀਨਾ ।
ਉਡਗਨ ਭੂਖਨ ਜਰੇ ਜਰਾਊ । ਲਲਿਤ ਮਰਾਲੰ ਪਾਵਨ ਪਾਊ ॥੩॥
In this season it seems that the sky has blue clothing on it and the clouds are filled with water giving the season beauty. The stars are like jewellery on the season and the swans are like the lotus feet of the season. 3.

ਮ੍ਰਿਦੁਲ ਕਮਲ ਕਰ ਜਿਹ ਦੁਤਿ ਭੂਰੀ । ਉੱਜਲ ਦੇਹਿ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਿਕਾ ਰੂਰੀ ।
ਕਮਤੀ ਕਰਤਿ ਤਪਤ ਸੀ ਕੁਮਤੀ । ਸਦਾ ਬਧਾਵਤਿ ਸੀਤਲ ਸੁਮਤੀ ॥੪॥
The lotus blossoms are the hands of the season like the shining of luminescent moon. The heat of the sun reduces like the ignorant mind and the coolness of knowledge is increasing. 4.

ਘਰ ਘਰ ਪਿਤਰ ਪਰਾਹੁਨ ਆਏ । ਪੰਥੀ ਪੁਰਿ ਨਿਜ ਪੰਥ ਸਿਧਾਏ ।
ਪੂਜ ਪਾਇਤਾ ਚੰਡਿ ਗਨੇਸ਼ਾ । ਰਿਪੁ ਦੇਸ਼ਨ ਪਰ ਚਢੇ ਨਰੇਸ਼ਾ ॥੫॥
Due to the advent of ancestor worship all the families gather in this season or have set off on this path. The kings worship the weapons, projectiles, Chandi and Ganesh following which they attack other lands. 5.

ਭਏ ਸੇਤ ਜਲਮੁਘ ਜਲ ਹੀਨਾ । ਜਿਉਂ ਤਨ ਬਿਤੀ ਬੈਸ ਬਲੁ ਛੀਨਾ ।
ਨਾਸੇ ਅਲਪ ਜੰਤੁ ਜੇ ਰਾਸੀ । ਜਨੁ ਗ੍ਯਾਨੀ ਬਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਬਿਨਾਸ਼ੀ ॥੬॥
The clouds then disperse their water and become white and lose all of their power. All the small animals also die out and the desires of an individual all disperse due to the knowledge gained through the worship of god. 6.

ਦੋਹਰਾ ।
ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੁਖ ਮੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ, ਆਨਂਦ ਸਦਾ ਮੁਕੰਦ ।
ਅੰਤਰ ਮੁਖ ਬ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਰਦ ਮੈਂ, ਕੀਨੀ ਬਹੁ ਜਗਬੰਦ ॥੭॥
Couplet – Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji is of a beautiful form and is sat at home. He is the bestower and giver of bliss. Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji keeps their thoughts hidden in this season. 7.

ਚੌਪਈ ।
ਤਿਹ ਪਾਛੇ ਬੇਦੀ ਕੁਲ ਕੇਤਾ । ਪੌਢੇ ਰਹਹਿਂ ਇਕਾਂਤਿ ਨਿਕੇਤਾ ।
ਸੰਤ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਜਿਹ ਸੁਨਹਿਂ ਬਿਲੋਕਹਿਂ । ਤਹਿਂ ਜਾਵਹਿਂ ਕਬ ਕਬ ਤਜ ੳਕਹਿਂ ॥੮॥
Quatrain – The Guru are the sign of the Bedi lineage that remains alone in his house. If there is a great saint or being Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji leaves the house and goes to see them. 8.

ਕਰਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ । ਨਹਿਂ ਬੈਠੈਂ ਅਗ੍ਯਾਤਨ ਪੰਗਤਿ ।
ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਕੀ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਗਾਥਾ । ਕਹਹਿਂ ਸੁਨਹਿਂ ਤਿਨ ਸੋਂ ਹਿਤ ਸਾਥਾ ॥੯॥
Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji congregates with the saints but the Guru doesn’t congregate with the ignorant individuals. The eulogy of the Lord is being listened to with the saints with complete love. 9.

ਰੀਤਿ ਬਿਰਕਤਨ ਕੀ ਚਿਤ ਧਾਰੀ । ਤਜੇ ਜੰਜਾਰ ਜੁ ਹੁਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ।
ਬੈਸ, ਗੋਤ, ਧਨ, ਜਾਤਿ, ਸਮਾਨਾ । ਬਚਨ ਸੁਨਨਿ ਕੀ ਜਿਨ ਰੁਚਿ ਨਾਨਾ ॥੧੦॥
Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji remains dispassionate and remains unattached from the world. Those people of the same age, caste, lineage and wealth did not have the same interests as Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. 10.

ਬੈਸਹਿਂ ਪਾਸ ਆਨ ਕਰਿ ਸੋਊ । ਬਾਲਪਨੇ ਮਹਿਂ ਖੇਲਤਿ ਜੋਊ ।
ਉਦਾਸੀਨ ਤਿਨ ਸੋਂ ਤਬ ਐਸੇ । ਬਿਨਾ ਚਿਨਾਰੀ ਮਿਲ ਹੈਂ ਜੈਸੇ ॥੧੧॥
The childhood friends of the Guru come and sit with him. These are the friends who used to play with him. Satguru Nanak Dev Ji also meets them and greets them as if they were unknown to him. 11.

ਅਸ ਬਿਧਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਮਾਤ ਮਨ ਚਿੰਤਾ । ਗਈ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਜਹਿਂ ਹੁਤੇ ਇਕੰਤਾ ।
ਦਸ਼ਾ ਦੇਖਿ ਸੁਤ ਕੀ ਬਿਸਮਾਨੀ । ਬੋਲੀ ਮਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਮੈਂ ਬਾਨੀ ॥੧੨॥
Seeing the dispassionate state of the Guru, Mata Tripta Ji began to worry. She went and sat with the Guru. Seeing the state of her son she was shocked. With love and affection she said to him. 12.

'ਸੁਨਹੁ ਤਾਤ ! ਚਿਤ ਬਾਤ ਬਿਚਾਰੋ । ਨਿਜ ਕਾਰਜ ਕੀਜੈ ਨਿਰਧਾਰੋ ।
ਤੁਝ ਕਿਉਂ ਬਨੈ ਪਕੀਰਨ ਸੰਗਾ । ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤ ਕਾਜ ਕਰਿਯੇ ਸ ਉਮੰਗਾ ॥੧੩॥
“Son listen, and deliberate on this, you should do your work with your consciousness linked to it. Why are you associating with the detached saints? The life of a householder should be done with joy.” 13.

ਕ੍ਰਿਖਿ ਕਰਨ ਕੀ ਜੇ ਨਹਿਂ ਪ੍ਰੀਤੀ । ਬਨਜਹੁ ਬਨਜ ਸਿਖਹੁ ਅਸ ਰੀਤੀ ।
ਕਰਹੁ ਕਾਰ ਕੋ ਹੋਇ ਸੁਚੇਤਾ । ਖਰਚ ਸੰਭਾਰਹੁ ਅਪਨ ਨਿਕੇਤਾ ॥੧੪॥
“If you do not like farming then learn accounting or trade. With intent do your worldly work and control the household expenses.” 14.

ਕਰਿ ਉਪਾਇ ਜਬ ਦਰਬ ਉਪਾਵਹੁ । ਭਲਿ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੰਚਹੁ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਲ੍ਯਾਵਹੁ ।
ਕੋ ਖੱਤ੍ਰੀ ਤਬ ਕਰਹਿ ਨਿਹਾਰੂ । ਲਖਹਿ ਕਮਾਊ ਸਹਿ ਪਰਵਾਰੂ ॥੧੫॥
“If you work with your heart interested in the task you will earn a large amount of wealth which you could bring into the house. When you become rich people will praise you for being rich and supporting your family.” 15.

ਨਿਜ ਤਨਿਯਾ ਤੁਝ ਦੇਯ ਬਿਵਾਹੀ । ਸੁਜਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਸਭਿ ਲੋਕਨ ਮਾਂਹੀ ।
ਅਬ ਕਾਜਨਿ ਤੇ ਲਖਹਿਂ ਉਦਾਸੂ । ਮਿਲ ਕਰਿ ਮਨੁਜ ਕਰਹਿਂ ਉਪਹਾਸੂ ॥੧੬॥
“That person will marry his daughter to you. We will gain glory from all. Everyone sees you as detached from the worldly deeds and everyone laughs at us.” 16.

ਕਹਹਿਂ ਨਿਲਾਯਕ ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਤਾਤਾ । ਕਛੂ ਨ ਕ੍ਰਿੱਤਿ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਗ੍ਯਾਤਾ ।
ਲਖਹਿਂ ਦਾਰਿਦੀ ਕੋ ਮਤਿ ਹੀਨਾ । ਕੋ ਭਾਖਹਿ ਇਹ ਬਲ ਤੇ ਛੀਨਾ ॥੧੭॥
“They all say, look at that boy he is of no use. He does not have the knowledge to do anything. They believe you to be mentally incapable or that we have no control or power over you.” 17.

ਬੱਜ੍ਰ ਸਮਾਨ ਬਚਨ ਉਪਹਾਸੂ । ਕਹਹਿਂ ਸ਼ਰੀਕ ਈਰਖਾ ਜਾਸੂ ।
ਹਮ ਉਰ ਜਰੇ ਜਾਇਂ ਸੋ ਕੈਸੇ ? । ਦੁਖਹਿਂ ਬਦਰਿ ਢਿਗ ਰੰਭਾ ਜੈਸੇ ॥੧੮॥
“We find these words and remarks very hurtful. These people are jealous of our family. Tell me how can we cope with such remarks? It hurts our mind as if a Jujebe tree (Jujebe tree is full of thorns) was close to a banana.” 18.

ਸੰਗਤਿ ਤਜਹੁ ਫਕੀਰਨ ਕੇਰੀ । ਪੰਕਤਿ ਬੈਸਹੁ ਗ੍ਯਾਤਿਨਿ ਹੇਰੀ ।
ਜਿਉਂ ਨਿਜ ਨਿਜ ਕਰਿਹੀਂ ਸੋ ਕਾਜਾ । ਤਿਉਂ ਤੁਮ ਕਰਹੁ, ਤਾਤ ਲਖਿ ਲਾਜਾ ' ॥੧੮॥
“Leave the congregation of the detached saints and sit with your relatives. Whatever occupation they perform you should also do.” 19.

ਸੁਨੇ ਸਭੈ ਬਚ ਜੇ ਕਹਿ ਮਾਤਾ । ਚਿੱਤ ਨ ਲਗੀਆ ਕੋਊ ਬਾਤਾ ।
ਪੁਨਿ ਪੜ ਰਹੇ ਪਾਇ ਮੁਖਿ ਬਸਨਾਂ । ਤੂਸ਼ਨ ਭਏ ਸੁ ਬੋਲੇ ਕਸ ਨਾ ॥੨੦॥
Guru Nanak listened to the words of his mother but none of the words struck his mind. Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji covered his mouth with a cloth and did not offer a response. 20.

ਪਰਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਮਹਿਂ ਭਗਤ ਦਸ਼ਾ ਸੀ । ਤਸ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਸੁਖ ਰਾਸੀ ।
ਰੈਨ ਦਿਵਸ ਪਰ ਰਹੈਂ ਨਿਕੇਤਾ । ਬਿਚਰ ਨ ਬੋਲਹਿਂ ਕਬਹਿ ਸੁਚੇਤਾ ॥੨੧॥
Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was in a state of Para Bhagti and his inner state was in a state of bliss. Day and night Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji remain silent. He does not talk to anyone he sees. 21.

ਭੇ ਉਨਮੱਤਿ ਨਿਮਗਨ ਅਨੰਦਾ । ਸਰੁਜ ਲਖਹਿਂ ਨਰ ਤਨ ਸੁਖਕੰਦਾ ।
ਖਾਨ ਪਾਨ ਨਹਿਂ ਰੁਚਿ ਸੋਂ ਕਰਿਹੀਂ । ਸ਼ਾਂਤਿ ਬ੍ਰਿੱਤਿ ਮੁਖ ਤੂਸ਼ਨ ਧਰਿਹੀਂ ॥੨੨॥
Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji is intoxicated in a state of bliss. People look at the form of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and see that he neither eats nor drinks. He keeps his mouth covered and does not talk. 22.

ਮਾਤ ਆਨ ਬਹੁ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਹੇਤੂ । ਅਸਨ ਖੁਵਾਵਹਿ ਮਧੁਰ ਸਮੇਤੂ ।
'ਦੁਰਬਲ ਭਾ ਤਵ ਤਾਤ ! ! ਸਰੀਰਾ । ਕਿਉਂ ਨ ਕਹਹੁ ਨਿਜ ਰੁਜ ਕੀ ਪੀਰਾ ॥੨੩॥
Mata Tripta Ji lovingly feeds sweet food to Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. She says, “O son your body is becoming weak. Tell us what is wrong with you?” 23.

ਆਨਨ ਪੀਤ, ਅਚੰਚਲ ਅੰਗਾ । ਬਿਗਸ ਨ ਬੋਲਹੁ ਸੰਗ ਉਮੰਗਾ ।
ਨਿਜ ਸੰਗੀ ਕੇ ਸੰਗਮ ਮਾਂਹੀ । ਮਿਲਿ ਕੈ ਬਿਚਰਤਿ ਕਿਉਂ ਤੁਮ ਨਾਂਹੀ ? ॥੨੪॥
“Your colour has become yellow and you do not move your limbs. You no longer converse with anyone. With your friends why don’t you meet them and play?” 24.

ਬਾਸੁਰ ਨਿਸਾ ਇਕਾਂਤ ਨਿਕੇਤੂ । ਪਰੇ ਰਹਹੁ, ਕਿਉਂ ਕਰਤਿ ਨ ਹੇਤੂ ? ।
ਰਚਿੁ ਸੋਂ ਅਸਨ ਕਰਤਿ ਨਹਿਂ ਖਾਨਾ । ਕਿਧੌਂ ਉਦਰ ਰੁਜ ਕੋ ਬਲਵਾਨਾ ॥੨੫॥
“Day and night you remain alone. Why do you remain in a lying position, why don’t you attach yourself to anyone? You do not eat happily so maybe you have an illness in your stomach?” 25.

ਮੁਹਰਮੁਹੁ ਜਨਨੀ ਇਵ ਭਾਖੀ । ਸੁਤ ਉਪਚਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਅਭਿਲਾਖੀ ।
ਮਨ ਹੀ ਮਨਹਿ ਮਨਾਵ ਮਹੇਸ਼ਾ । ਪੂਜ ਚੰਡਿਕਾ ਬਹੁਰ ਗਨੇਸ਼ਾ ॥੨੬॥
Mata Tripta Ji continued to question her son in this manner as she wants to heal her son. Sometimes she remembers Shiva in her mind, sometimes Chandi and other times Ganesh in order to seek a cure for her son. (Remember this is prior to Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s universal message.). 26.

ਸੁਤ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਕੋ ਕਰਹੁ ਅਰੋਗਾ । ਦੇਉਂ ਉਪਾਇਨ ਜਸ ਜਿਸ ਜੋਗਾ ।
ਬੰਦਹਿ ਕਰ ਧਰ ਪਰ ਧਰਿ ਸਿਰ ਕੋ । ਨਮੋ ਕਰਹਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਲਖਮੀ ਬਰ ਕੋ ॥੨੭॥
Mata Tripta Ji is thinking to herself, ‘O God please cure my son, whatever the cure is I will give an offering for it.’ She folds her hands and prostrates on the floor. She continues to make supplications to God. 27.

ਸੁਤ ਕਰ ਗਹਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਹੁਰੋ ਬੋਲੀ । 'ਕਹਹੁ ਆਪਨੀ ਪੀਰਾ ਖੋਲੀ ।
ਤਿਸ ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਕਰਿਵਾਉਂ ਇਲਾਜਾ । ਬੈਦ ਬੁਲਾਇ ਬਿਲਮ ਬਿਨ ਆਜਾ ' ॥੨੮॥
She held her son’s hand and said, “Son please tell me of your ailment so that it can be diagnosed. Without delay I will call the doctor.” 28.

ਮਸ਼ਟ ਕਰੀ ਬੇਦੀ ਕੁਲ ਨਾਥਾ । ਉਤਰ ਨ ਦੇਂ ਕੋ ਜਨਨੀ ਸਾਥਾ ।
ਸੁਧਿ ਲੇਵਨ ਆਵਹਿਂ ਸਭਿ ਗ੍ਯਾਤੀ । ਜਿਨ ਕੋ ਨਹਿਂ ਅਸ ਰੀਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਤੀ ॥੨੯॥
The master of the Bedi lineage remained silent, he did not offer any reply. All of their relatives and associates come in order to gain news on his condition and offer their advice. 29.

ਭੋਜਨ ਖਾਤਿ ਨ ਪੀਵਤਿ ਨੀਰੂ । ਹੇਰਤਿ ਬੇਦੀ ਭਏ ਅਧੀਰੂ ।
ਭੂਰ ਬਿਸੂਰਤਿ ਸਭਿ ਪਰਵਾਰੂ । ਰੁਜ ਨ ਪਾਇ ਨਹਿਂ ਕਰਿ ਉਪਚਾਰੂ ' ॥੩੦॥
Guru Nanak Dev Ji refuse to eat any food or drink any water. All the Bedis seeing this became anxious. All of the family began to worry. They say neither do we know the illness or the sure. 30.

ਕਾਲੂ ਸੋਂ ਬੋਲੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੋਊ । 'ਤਵ ਤਨੁਜਹਿ ਕੋ ਦੁਖ ਹੈ ਕੋਊ ।
ਤੂੰ ਨਿਚਿੰਤ ਫਿਰ ਹੈਂ ਕਹੁ ਕੈਸੇ ? । ਇਕ ਸੁਤ, ਬਹੁਰ ਰੁਜੀ ਭਾ ਐਸੇ ॥੩੧॥
All the Bedis met and said to Baba Kalu Ji, “Your son is definitely ill. Look to see how this has occurred. You only have one son and he has become ill.” 31.

ਬੈਦ ਬੁਲਾਇ ਇਲਾਜ ਕਰੀਜੈ । ਦਰਬ ਲੋਭ ਨਹਿਂ ਰਿਦੈ ਧਰੀਜੈ ।
ਜੇ ਤਵ ਤਾਤ ਅਰੋਗ ਜਿਵੰਤੂ । ਇਹ ਤੇ ਅਧਿਕ ਹੋਇ ਧਨਵੰਤੂ ' ॥੩੨॥
“Call a doctor and get him diagnosed. Do not worry about your attachment to money. If your son is diagnosed he will survive and will earn lots of wealth.” 32.

ਸੁਤ ਸਨੇਹ ਕੋ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਤ੍ਯਾਗੀ । ਦਰਬ ਵਿਖੈ ਕਿਉਂ ਭਾ ਅਨੁਰਾਗੀ ? ' ।
ਤਰਕ ਸਨੁਤਿ ਗ੍ਯਾਤਿਨਿ ਕੀ ਕਾਲੂ । ਹੁਤੋ ਅਨੁਜ ਢਿਗ ਤਿਹਛਿਨ ਲਾਲੂ ॥੩੩॥
“You have forgotten your attachment for your son but why have you become engrossed to money.” Baba Kalu Ji heard the words of his relatives and at that moment his younger brother Baba Lalu Ji was sat next to him.” 33.

ਬੈਦ ਬੁਲਾਵਨ ਹੇਤ ਪਠਾਯਾ । ਲਾਲੂ ਤਿਹ ਘਰ ਜਾਇ ਬੁਲਾਯਾ ।
ਨਾਮ ਜਾਸ 'ਹਰਿਦਾਸ' ਹੁਲਾਸੀ । ਜਗੇ ਭਾਗ ਗਾ ਢਿਗ ਸੁਖਰਾਸੀ ॥੩੪॥
Baba Lalu Ji requested for the doctor to attend by sending a messenger to his house. The name of the doctor was ‘Hardas’. Some great fortune of his had just manifest as he was on his way to the Guru. 34.

ਤਨ ਪਰ ਬਸਨ ਲਏ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ । ਜਹਿਂ ਪੌਢੇ, ਆਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਥਾਂਈ ।
ਕਾਲੂ ਕਹੈ, 'ਸੁ ਬੈਦੰ ! ਸੁਨੀਏ । ਕਰ ਬਿਲੋਕ ਇਹ ਰੁਜ ਕੋ ਗੁਨੀਏ ' ॥੩੫॥
Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji the master of peace had a cloth over him. Hardas came to the location where Guru Nanak Dev Ji was sat. Baba Kalu Ji said to the doctor, “Listen, check him properly and diagnose him.” 35.

ਨਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਪਰ੍ਯੋ ਰਹੈ ਸਹਿ ਆਲਸ । ਖਾਨ ਪਾਨ ਕੀ ਕਰੈ ਨ ਲਾਲਸ ।
ਪੀਤ ਬਦਨ ਤਨ ਖੀਨ ਕੁਢਾਰਾ । ਬੇਦਨ ਪਾਇ ਕਰਹੁ ਉਪਚਾਰਾ ' ॥੩੬॥
“Day and night he just sleeps and does not eat or drink. His face has changed colour, he is weak and mentally he has changed. Please diagnose him and start him on a cure to his illness.” 36

ਸੁਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਚਨ ਬੈਦ ਬੁਧਿਵੰਤਾ । ਬੈਠ੍ਯੋ ਨਿਕਟ ਤਬਹਿ ਜਗ ਕੰਤਾ ।
ਆਨਨ ਪਰ ਤੇ ਬਸਨ ਉਘਾਰਾ । ਹੇਰਤਿ ਧਮਨੀ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਧਾਰਾ ॥੩੭॥
The intelligent doctor listened to the request of Baba Kalu Ji and sat next to Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji who is the creator of the world. He removed the cloth from the body of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and grabbed the hand of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. 37.

ਬੈਦ ਬਦਨ ਦੁਖ ਕਦਨ ਸੁ ਦੇਖਾ । ਜਿਸ ਕੋ ਮਨੁ ਅਨੁਕੰਪ ਬਿਸ਼ੇਖਾ ।
ਕਰ ਤੇ ਕਰਖ ਲਯੋ ਨਿਜ ਕਰ ਕੋ । ਉਠ ਬੈਠੇ ਦੇਵਨ ਮਤਿ ਬਰ ਕੋ ॥੩੮॥
Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji are the one who dispels all pain, here the doctor is looking at the face of the Guru. The Guru has graced the doctor with this opportunity. Guru Nanak Dev Ji pulled his hand from the doctors. Then to give an updesh Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji sat up. 38.

ਬਚ ਬੋਲੇ ਉਤਪਲ ਦਲ ਲੋਚਨ । ਸੁਖਦ ਅਚਲ ਭਵ ਬੰਧ ਬਿਮੋਚਨ ।
'ਗਹਹੁ ਹਾਥ ਕੇ ਸਾਥ ਸੁ ਹਾਥਾ । ਕ੍ਯਾ ਤੁਮ ਜੀਉ, ਕਹਹੁ ਨਿਜ ਗਾਥਾ ? ' ॥੩੯॥
The eyes of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji were like lotus blossoms, he is the one who brings peace and breaks the bonds of bondage from the earth he said, “O doctor by holding my hand tell me what you are thinking of in your heart?” 39.

ਸੁਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਭੇਖਕ ਬਚਨ ਉਚਾਰੇ । 'ਹੌਂ ਹੇਰੋਂ ਜੋ ਰੋਗ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ।
ਪਿਤ, ਵਾਇ, ਕਫ, ਸ਼੍ਰੋਣਤ ਚਾਰੂ । ਇਨ ਤੇ ਤਨ ਮਹਿਂ ਹੋਤਿ ਵਿਕਾਰੂ ॥੪੦॥
The doctor heard this and said, “I am looking for your illness in your body. There are four ways that a person gets ill and I am looking for them in your body.” 40.

ਜਿਹ ਕੋ ਮੈਂ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਅਬ ਹੇਰੋਂ । ਤਿਹ ਪਰ ਕਰਿ ਉਪਚਾਰ ਨਿਬੇਰੌਂ ।
ਪਥ ਕੋ ਰਾਖ ਔਖਧੀ ਖਾਵਹੁ । ਹੁਇ ਅਰੋਗ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥੪੧॥
“No matter, whatever I find out of the four as the illness I will provide you with the medicine to cure the illness. I will tell you what to avoid and you will be happy again.” 41.

ਅਸਨ ਖਾਨ ਕੀ ਰੁਚਿ ਉਪਜੈ ਹੈ । ਨਿਰਬਲ ਦੇਹਿ ਬਲੀ ਪੁਨ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਹੈ ' ।
ਬੈਦ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਨਿ ਪੰਕਜ ਬਦਨਾ । ਤਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਬੋਲੇ ਸਭਿ ਸੁਖ ਸਦਨਾ ॥੪੨॥
“You will want to eat again, your weakness will go.” Guru Nanak Dev Ji who has lotus eyes heard the words of the doctor and as the abode of peace uttered the following gurbani. 42.

ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੧ ॥
ਵੈਦੁ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਵੈਦਗੀ ਪਕੜਿ ਢੰਢੋਲੇ ਬਾਂਹ ॥
ਭੋਲਾ ਵੈਦੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਕਰਕ ਕਲੇਜੇ ਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥

ਮਃ ੨ ॥
ਵੈਦਾ ਵੈਦੁ ਸੁਵੈਦੁ ਤੂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਰੋਗੁ ਪਛਾਣੁ ॥
ਐਸਾ ਦਾਰੂ ਲੋੜਿ ਲਹੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਵੰਞੈ ਰੋਗਾ ਘਾਣਿ ॥
ਜਿਤੁ ਦਾਰੂ ਰੋਗ ਉਠਿਅਹਿ ਤਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਵਸੈ ਆਇ ॥
ਰੋਗੁ ਗਵਾਇਹਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਵੈਦੁ ਸਦਾਇ ॥੨॥


ਚੌਪਈ ।
ਲਾਗ੍ਯੋ ਆਦਿ ਕੋ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੂ । ਜਿਹ ਤੇ ਮਹਾਂ ਦੁਖੀ ਸਭਿ ਲੋਗੂ ।
ਜਗ ਮਹਿਂ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਕੋ ਕਾਰਨ । ਕਿਹ ਉਪਚਾਰ ਨ ਹੋਤਿ ਨਿਵਾਰਨ ॥੪੩॥
Quatrain – Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji says “From birth I am inflicted with an illness which is the attachment and pride. Due to this everyone is in pain. The cycle of birth and death is the affliction. There is no diagnosis for this illness.” 43.

ਅਪਨ ਆਪ ਕੋ ਹੇਰਹੁ ਆਮੀ । ਕਰਹੁ ਅਵਰ ਕੌ ਕੈਸ ਅਨਾਮੀ ।
ਜਿਸ ਭੇਖਜ ਤੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਜਾਈ । ਅਬਚਲ ਸੁਖ ਵਸਿ ਹੈ ਤਨ ਆਈ ॥੪੪॥
“So see yourself as ill as if you are ill how can you diagnose another? If one is able to administer the medicine to eradicate ego then they will live in peace.” 44.

ਸੋ ਉਪਚਾਰ ਕਰੇ ਜੇ ਕੋਊ । ਨਿਜ ਰੁਜ ਖੋਇ ਬੈਦ ਭਲ ਸੋਊ ।
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਤੇ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਹੋਈ । ਬਹੁਰ ਨ ਰੋਗ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਕੋਈ ॥੪੫॥
“If you can diagnose this and eradicate their own ego then that is a true doctor. They become liberated from the cycle of birth. They will not be afflicted by any illness.” 45.

ਰੁਜ ਪਰਖਨ, ਪੁਨ ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਹਰਨੇ । ਸੁਨ੍ਯੋ ਚਹਿਤਿ ਹੋ ਮਨ ਦਿਢ ਕਰਨੇ ।
ਤੌ ਉਚਰਹੁਂ, ਨਿਜ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਚਾਹੂ । ਸਭੈ ਕਹੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਪਾਹੂ ' ॥੪੬॥
“One should be able to recognise the illness and also provide the cure for the ailment. If you wish to listen to this in your heart I will tell you how. I will tell you how to find the illness and cure it.” 46.

ਅਸ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੁਨੇ ਬੈਦ ਬਚ ਜਬ ਹੀ । ਬਿਸਮੈ ਹੋਇ ਵਿਚਾਰਤਿ ਤਬ ਹੀ ।
ਕੋ ਕੋ ਨਰ ਇਹ ਨੁਤਹਿ ਉਚਾਰੀ । ਸੁਨਤਿ ਹੁਤੋ ਅਬ ਨੈਨ ਨਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੪੭॥
When the doctor heard the words of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji he was surprised and started to deliberate on the words. He thought to himself, “No one in the village has ever questioned me before. I heard of this child’s praise before but today I am seeing his grace for myself.’ 47.

ਕਲਵਾਨ ਇਹ ਸਤਿ ਅਵਤਾਰਾ । ਬੂਝ ਲੇਉਂ ਮੈਂ ਹੁਇ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ।
ਅਸ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਿ ਬੈਦ ਸਿਆਨਾ । ਬੰਦ ਹਾਥ ਦੋ ਬਚਨ ਬਖਾਨਾ ॥੪੮॥
‘He is a powerful and true manifestation. I should ask him now so that he will be able to save me.’ The doctor was deliberating on such thoughts; he folded his hands and made a supplication to Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. 48.

'ਤੁਮਰੇ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਨਨਿ ਅਭਿਲਾਖਾ । ਵਧੀ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਨ ਜਿਉਂ ਤਰੁ ਸ਼ਾਖਾ ।
ਕਰੁਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਜੋ ਸਭਿ ਬਿਰਤਾਂਤਾ । ਕਹਹੁ ਆਪ ਜਿਉਂ ਮੁਝ ਹੁਇ ਸ਼ਾਂਤਾ ' ॥੪੯॥
“Hearing your words I have a great desire in my heart which is increasing like the growing twigs of a tree. Please O Lord grace me so that my mind will become stable and peaceful.” 49.

ਕਮਲ ਬਦਨ ਕਰੁਨਾ ਗੁਨ ਮੰਦਿਰ । ਬੋਲੇ ਬਚਨ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੁਲ ਬਰ ਸੁੰਦਰ ।
'ਤੁਨ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਮਤਾ ਜੁ ਘਨੇਰੀ । ਸਭਿ ਬ੍ਯਾਧਨਿ ਕੀ ਮੂਲ ਵਡੇਰੀ ॥੫੦॥
Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji who has a face like a lotus blossom said the beautiful words, “Within the body is pride and attachment. These are the cause of all illnesses.” 50.

ਆਤਮ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਲਖੀਐ ਨ੍ਯਾਰੋ । ਚੇਤਨ ਜੜ੍ਹ ਨੀਕੇ ਨਿਰਧਾਰੋ ।
ਨਿਰਵਿਕਾਰ ਪੁਨ ਜਾਣਿ ਅਸੰਗਾ । ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭੰਗਹੁ ਤਬ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਭੰਗਾ ॥੫੧॥
“The soul is separate from the body. Understand the difference between conscious and insentient. The soul is pure and is exempt from everything if you understand this then you will be able to eradicate any ailment.” 51.

ਪਰਗੁਨ ਪਰਧਨ ਪਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਸਾ । ਜਰੈ ਨ ਇਹੁ, ਜੁਰ ਲਖੋ ਨਿਸੰਸਾ ।
ਸਭਿ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੋਂ ਮੈਤ੍ਰੀ ਕਰਨੀ । ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਇਹ ਔਖਧਿ ਬਰ ਹਰਨੀ ॥੫੨॥
“To see another person, their riches, their assets you should never want them as this is an illness. The cure is to make all people and see them as your friends. This is the medicine.” 52.

ਜਿਉਂ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰਿਨ ਸੁਖ ਲਖਿ ਕਰਿ ਸੁਖੀਆ । ਤੈਸੀ ਬ੍ਰਿੱਤਿ ਸਭਿਨਿ ਸੋਂ ਰਖੀਆ ।
ਨਿਜ ਗੁਣ, ਧਨ, ਨਿਜ ਜਸ ਬਿਸਤੀਰਨ । ਕਰਤਿ ਮਾਨ, ਇਹ ਹੈ ਵਡਜੀਰਨ ॥੫੩॥
“The way a person sees a friend happy also brings them happiness, you should keep this attitude when you meet anyone. Your own virtues, own wealth and own praise if you are to be egotistical over this then this is the actual illness similar to vomiting.” 53.

ਲਖਿ ਕਰਿ ਸਭਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ । ਰਿਦੇ ਗਰੀਬੀ ਚੂਰਨ ਖਾਈ ।
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਰੁਚਿ ਸੋਂ ਲਿਵਲਾਗੀ । ਲਖਹਿ ਅਰੁਜ ਇਹ ਭੂਖ ਸੁ ਜਾਗੀ ॥੫੪॥
“You should praise the Lord who is within everyone and by adopting humility in your heart you should eat daily. When you gain hunger in your heart the thirst for the name of God increases. This hunger increases while people think of it as an
illness.” 54.

ਬਿਸ਼ੈ ਬਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਖਾਂਸੀ । ਦਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਬਰਧਤਿ ਕਬ ਨ ਬਿਨਾਸ਼ੀ ।
ਮਿੱਥ੍ਯਾ ਸਭਿਹਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਜਾਨੀ । ਇਹ ਚਟਨੀ ਤਿਹ ਕਰਿਹੀ ਹਾਨੀ ॥੫੫॥
“The greed of desires is similar to a cough; it increases and does not recede. Understand material objects to be false and that way the cough will disappear.” 55.

ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਅਰੁ ਮੋਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਦੋਖੂ । ਨਿਜ ਸਭਿ ਜੀਵਨ ਕੀ ਸੁਧ ਸੋਖੂ ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਚਨ ਤੰਬੇਸੁਰ ਪੂਰੀ । ਨਿਤ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤਿਹ, ਸੋ ਹੋਇ ਦੂਰੀ ॥੫੬॥
“Lust, anger and attachment are like the feeling of pain which weakens an individual. The words of the Guru are the cure for the illness and will eradicate.” 56.

ਬਮਨ ਰੋਗ ਕਰਿਹੀ ਪਰ ਨਿੰਦਾ । ਹਟਹਿ, ਲਖਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਤੇ ਨਿਜ ਮੰਦਾ ।
ਅਸ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੇ ਰੁਜ ਸੋਂ ਮਨ ਪੂਰਨ । ਮਿਟਹਿ ਸੇਵ ਗੁਰ ਪਦ ਰਜ ਚੂਰਨ ' ॥੫੭॥
“Slander is like vomiting, and you begin to grow weak. The world and human life is full of illnesses. So serve the Guru as the dirt from his feet is what eradicates these illnesses.” 57.

ਕਮਲ ਬਦਨ ਤੇ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਨੇ ਜਬ । ਬੈਦ ਬਿਚੱਛਨ ਨਿੰਮ੍ਰਿ ਭਯੋ ਤਬ ।
ਨਿਜ ਮਨ ਕੋ ਮੁਨਸਬ ਹੁਇ ਤਬ ਹੀ । ਕਹੇ ਜਿ ਰੁਜ ਲਖਿ ਲੀਨੇ ਸਭਿ ਹੀ ॥੫੮॥
The doctor heard these words from the lotus faced Guru and he became full of humility. He saw the Guru as the bringer of justice and understood what he was saying. 58.

ਕਰ ਬਿਬ ਬੰਦਤਿ ਬਿਨੈ ਬਖਾਨੀ । 'ਹੌਂ ਹੇਰ੍ਯੋ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕਰਿ ਅਨਜਾਨੀ ।
ਜਸ ਇੱਛਾ ਕਰੀਏ ਤਸ ਲੀਲ੍ਹਾ । ਮਹਾਂਪੁਰਖ ਤੁਮ ਗੁਨੀ ਗਹੀਲਾ ॥੫੯॥
He folded both of his hands and bowed at the feet of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and made the following supplication, “O True King due to my ignorance I thought you were ill and through your play you have eradicated my illness. You are the great soul who has all the good virtues.” 59.

ਤੁਮਰੇ ਬਚਨਨ ਮੋਹਿ ਅਬਿੱਦ੍ਯਾ । ਬਾਨ ਲੱਛ ਜਿਉਂ ਕੀਨੀ ਭਿੱਦ੍ਯਾ ।
ਆਮੀ ਹੋਵਨ ਬਹੁਰ ਅਨਾਮੀ । ਲਖਿ ਲਿਯ ਗਤਿ ਸਭਿ ਹੁਇ ਤਵ ਸਾਮੀ ॥੬੦॥
“Your words have affected my ignorance like an arrow that has pierced it. I have learned how a person becomes ill and gains a cure. Under your protection I have understood this.” 60.

ਅਬ ਮੁਝ ਪਰ ਇਹ ਕਰੁਨਾ ਕਰੀਏ । ਮਨ ਕੋ ਰੋਗ ਸਗਲ ਪਰਿਹਰੀਏ ' ।
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਕਹ੍ਯੋ 'ਕਰੋ ਸਤਿਸੰਗਾ । ਦਿਨ ਥੋਰਨ ਮੈਂ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਭੰਗਾ ' ॥੬੧॥
“Now True King have mercy on me and alleviate the afflictions on my mind.” Guru Nanak Dev Ji said, “You should join the true congregation and your illness will disappear.” 61.

ਮਨਿ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇ ਕਰੀ ਪਦ ਬੰਦਨ । ਮਹਿਮਾ ਜਾਨੀ ਕੁਮਤਿ ਨਿਕੰਦਨ ।
ਗਯੋ ਸਦਨ ਸੇਵ੍ਯੋ ਸਤਿਸੰਗਾ । ਮੋਖ ਉਚਿਤ ਭਾ ਉਰ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭੰਗਾ ॥੬੨॥
The doctor Hardas prostrated in front of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and he understood the glory of the Guru. He returned home and forever was involved in the satsangat. Any fears in his heart were eradicated.

ਦੋਹਰਾ ।
ਅਸ ਬਿਧਿ ਬੈਦ ਉਧਾਰ ਕਰਿ, ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਕਰੁਨਾ ਖਾਨ ।
ਸਦਾ ਬਦਨ ਤੇ ਨਾਮਜਪ ਧਰਹੁ ਰਿਦੇ ਨਿਤ ਧ੍ਯਾਨ ॥੬੩॥
Couplet – The Guru, who is the granter of grace, graced the doctor Hardas. O mind forever meditate on the Lord and focus on the Lord in your mind. 63.

ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਗ੍ਰੰਥੇ ਪੂਰਬਾਰਧੇ 'ਬੈਦ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਗ' ਬਰਨਨੰ ਨਾਮ ਤ੍ਰਯੌਦਸ਼ਮੋ ਅਧ੍ਯਾਯ ॥੧੩॥
The thirteenth Adhyai of the Sri Nanak Parkash Granth (Poorbarad) which is about the updesh to the Vaid has now been completed.
